  1. We've launched a brand new website today - WeatherHolidays.com is the new home for our tornado alley storm chasing and Arizona tours - we'll also be adding new weather related holidays and trips as we go forward. Hopefully you like the new site - please let me know if you have any feedback or indeed ideas for other weather related trips that you think we ought to add. Thanks Paul
  2. Well you wanted Lightning from this tour and tonight we hit the Jackpot Big Time! This was a proper Monsoon Chase today leaving the Hotel at 4pm and meandering down towards Tucson where the Moisture was pretty decent. Along the way 2 Storms were going nuts spitting out Lightning to our SE & SW Making it 8 out of 8 days with Lightning observed. Having been scouring for Great views the day before I knew that Windy Point at 7,000ft above Sea Level would be the perfect Vista for a Storm rolling through the Tucson Valley below. As we approached Tucson the Storm to our SW Was beginning to throw out a Haboob which was not that Strong, we got to the base of Mount Lemmon at Sunset and disaster struck as both Storms lost intensity, knowing that the view 12 miles further up the Mountain we great a Windy Point we went up there to take some scenic shots overlooking the Valley below. As we got there I noticed an Outflow Boundary was being thrown off to the South East and sure enough Cg's started to crank up to our South about 10 miles away. We were now level with the Storms Base at 7,000ft above Sea Level. The Storm was moving very slowly to the West across the Valley and we did not recieve any rain at all at our location. We had about 90 minutes shooting Cg's from our location and then moving around the valley to document Storms to our NE, SE & East. At one point we could see Cg's from Storms in Mexico! I myself have taken over 100 Shots and need to process them but here is 1 for you to look at. Craig has also taken over 100 shots. This place is incredible and I will upload more later as it is 230am here
  3. You can catch up with the highlights from the Arizona chase here: http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=news;storyid=773;sess=
  4. Chase day 3 saw our 3rd day on the trot of action in Arizona. Today I targeted North of the Mogollan Rim up towards the Flagstaff area. Part of my reasoning was due to what happened yesterday with the Haboob / Dust-Storm that affected the Central Desert and had put a lot of Dust and Haze up into the Atmosphere inhibiting convection between Phoenix and Tucson. So followed the RUC Model today which had newer data than the NAM & GFS. After heading north and climbing to 7,000ft above sea level it was refreshing to see Pine Forests and temperatures in the mid 70's in the target area. We got onto some nice Storms over the mountains near Flagstaff, one of them prompted a flash flood warning, Storms then lost intensity from the North as they rained out on each other so kept dropping South to where Storms were still quite severe as they were tapping into the hotter air further South. This enabled us to go to Sedona and the famous Sedona Red Rocks (A Mini Grand Canyon) The plan was to try and get some Cg Lightning at Dusk time (730pm) with the Rocks in the background, unfortunately that Storm impacted at 630pm and light was just not right, Craig got a beauty hitting one of the Mesa's which he will upload tomorrow. Our last shot at Night time lightning would be further South along I-17 At a Rest Stop that overlooked some nice Mountains I noted on the way up. Everything was going to plan and we were 1/4 Mile away from the Rest Stop when disaster struck and we encountered a Fatal Road Crash on the Road, it delayed us on the road from 7pm until 830pm whilst the Air Ambulance landed on the road to take the fatality away and the Police to do their investigations, we were only about 6 cars back from where the Wrecked cars were, all the time the Storm raged about 10 miles to our South West over the Mountains with perfect Lighting. Some of the guys did get some shots whilst we were waiting but not the end of the day we were hoping for. Finally got back to the furnace of Phoenix at 10pm with temperatures at 100f again and with clear skies (Thankfully) as it looks like the breeze today has dispersed the Dust Clouds. 2 More very busy days coming up Paul S - Storm West of Flagstaff - Cg Lightning near Flagstaff (By Craig) - The Famous Sedona Rocks - Stuck behind the Crash on the I-17 With developing Storm at Sunset - Air Ambulance landing on the I-17
  5. Chase day 2 saw the team in action again and what an amazing day it turned out to be. All models showed similar areas to yesterday but we went with the NAM Model which showed the Central Desert Lighting up. We left Phoenix at 1pm and jauntered down towards Casa Grande on the Maricopa Road and then the first bit of fun began. Storms were already getting there act together to our South but we had about 45 minutes playing with incredible Dust Devils which were easily EF0 In strength and were like Mini Wedge Tornadoes. Temperatures at this point were 110f and the rotation was pretty violent, we have some insane Youtube Video to put up in a wee while. We then got down to the serious part of the day and headed South towards Casa Grande to a nice Thunderstorm over the Desert to our South, I took a SE Road and upon heading into Casa Grande an amazing Haboob was pushing out Northwards from the Parent Thunderstorm and heading towards Phoenix. We documented this and sent some video to Tucson News Channel 4 for their 6pm Bulletin. We then let the Duststorm over-run us and sampled 40-50mph winds, after that we headed east into the Mountains and played with some hail and flash flooding (Safely on Tarmac) Daytime Lightning was hard today with all the dust, in fact on the drive back to Phoenix along I-10 We were in a Duststorm all the way. When we got back to the Hotel another Storm was literally sitting just North of our Hotel and some of the guys got some nice Purply Lightning Pictures to end the day. Paul S - Wedge Devil - Haboob advancing Northwards from Casa Grande Will put up the Youtube clip when we process it soon
  6. Chase Day 1 about to kick off, all had a swim at the Hotel with temps of 106f in Phoenix, the cell below is starting to crank up along with some tasty storms down to our South East. Barons all working so wish us luck.
