Probably makes sense I have a German weather thread here! I can only speak for East Germany, specifically Berlin but overall it has some similar themes to the UK climate except hotter in the summer and colder in the winter. Generally it is dry except during the summer when we get rain from thunderstorms. It can be changeable and cool even in summer when we get a NWly or Nly wind. We can get some very high temperatures in summer and in general it is far warmer than the UK - especially compared to my old home of Nottingham. It is definitely sunnier than the UK with us mostly missing out on Atlantic weather systems (although not all the time). Winters are colder but snowfall is not that common as it is very dry. You can get some very low temperatures sometimes although it doesn't normally last very long. Low cloud is very common November-January and you can go weeks with no sunshine and temperatures hovering around -1 to 2c. Pretty dire and no wonder the summer-winter mood contrast in the city is so extreme. Once into late Feb the sun can burn off the cloud and dry, sunny weather is common. This summer has been changeable during June & July with some cool & damp sub 15c days under NWly winds but also some extreme heat with our hottest day being just shy of 40c. August has started hot and is set to remain so with maxes around 28c-35c for the foreseeable future. Friday we're expecting 38c before a 'cool' off to 32c on Saturday.

Hi. I'm new to this forum (and largely to this subject) and hope somebody here can help me, even if only by pointing me toward other sources. I need to get a general impression of weather conditions at these places and times: Bucharest, winter of 1920-21 Nancy, winter of 1921-22 Belgrade, winter of 1921-22 Frankfurt, winter of 1922-23 Budapest, winter of 1922-23 It doesn't have to be precise day-by-day data - I just need to know, for example, if those winters in those locations were unusually bitter or unusually mild, whether there was exceptional snowfall, and so on. (I'm a writer of historical fiction, among other things, and I like to get the facts right as far as I can!) Thanks.
