I'm currently on holiday in Santa Margherita Ligure, near Genoa and had this storm system go over this morning. Loads of lightning but mostly in cloud, and constant rumbling. Crazy winds and very heavy rain at times! Went on for a good couple of hours overall. In a red Meteoalarm zone for this evening too with severe storms predicted later. Remaining hopeful to watch them from the balcony after dinner!

Incredible views of pretty amazing Cbs looking north from Chobham, Surrey! I saw these as I left work (Heathrow) just now. Shame they're not a little closer and the M25 wasn't solid as i'd hop in the car and chase them! Probably not ideal doing that on my motorbike...! One cell appears to have an overshooting top...?

just driven through the reading cell... awesome gust front as i approached from the east - it wouldnt have looked out of place in the US! Punched through some really intense hail, then rain but didnt notice any lightning?!

A potent cell just passed directly over HEathrow Airport where i'm working. one or two VERY close strikes and flashes every 5-8 seconds

I'm going there too on the friday! yeah hopefully it doesn't rain, but i bought grandstand tickets so can seek shelter if need be B)

also, at 10pm tonight there is 'True stories: act of god' on More4. it's about the after effects of people who have been hit by lightning. An action packed couple of hours on the 'box tonight with Nature's fury prior to this B) Sam
