  1. Don't pay any attention to GFS temp charts.. they are absolute rubbish.
  2. Seeing as billions of people without medical issues around the world survive with 30C+ temperatures, I'd strongly disagree with this
  3. Typical yearly chart there that usually delivers the hottest day of the year. I would say 33-34C if the sun shines is possible somewhere. Otherwise probably 30C
  4. Sticky night? Lol it was probably only 14C last night!! Try living on the south coast with average lows of 15C in summer.. to me 18C lows are the most pleasant. How anyone can find 14C lows 'sticky' is beyond me!! Luckily I am leaving this country for a few weeks to head to the Mediterranean soon, where I will see some real summer weather with 30C highs and 20C lows
  5. Heathrow records on average 4.2 days above 86F/30C a year.. not great but it's better than nothing! I think nowadays it would be almost impossible to not achieve it in a year.. since 1993 when it last didn't happen the UHI has become even larger and our climate has warmed slightly with the average July max at Heathrow now 23.5C Apparently the average 'highest max' in a year at Heathrow is 33.2C/92F
  6. 25C at 15:15.. warm and quite sunny. Not a bad day, very comfortable
  7. About time! A high of only 26.4C so far this year in both May and June..
  8. I rejoice in that because I hate cold weather.. but are you seriously suggesting that 19C is warm? We live in one of the coolest climates of a major country in the world.. 19C is not too warm
  9. 3 week dry spells are not uncommon here, in fact they happen quite often outside of winter and Autumn. But yes, we have gone two and a half months without rain before in the 19th century, and 2 months during 1976
  10. A disgusting day. 19C and cloudy outside.. feels quite chilly
  11. The next week looks absolutely dismal, just like today so far. Temperatures going no higher than 20-21C and plenty of cloud Our climate is probably one of the worst in the world (Behind Scandanavia, other parts of western Europe and all tundra/polar climates)
  12. Are you trolling? It is not humid at all!! It is 19C and cloudy down here, feels chilly. Disgusting late June weather!
  13. GFS temperatures are very bad.. it shows 4C for my area.. that would most likely be a record low temperature for June here. More likely to be 8-10C in many areas
  14. This summer so far has been decent for UK standards. 20/22 days above 20C this June, normally June is dodgy and it isn't until July that we see sub 20C highs disappearing. Average high so far for this month is 22.3C which is slightly above average.. most days have been between 21-26C which is comfortable, but the lack of any hot days has been the only let down. 162 sunshine hours so far, so we'll probably end up slightly above average with that this month as well with about 230. Overall it is acceptable by UK standards.
  15. I'd much rather have polluted hazy blue skies than this Atlantic dross. Absolutely awful weather. Bring back the warmth please!
  16. True, but then hot spells are less likely and the number of 30C days is lower than here. London's climate is very far from perfect for me, but I like the fact that 99% of July days are above 20C. Places in Cornwall, Newcastle etc get days upon days of 15-17C days when we are trapped with atlantic fronts steamrolling over the UK, in the same situation it is at least normally above 20C with sunny interludes down here
  17. I think it's more to do with the fog during summer. I'm guessing they get most of their fog during June, July and August when the sun is strongest. It's a weird climate that's for sure
  18. Most UK climates are terrible. The only ones that are just about acceptable are in the south East and along the south coast from Dorset to Hampshire. At least in these places there is something that actually resembles summer with occasional 30C highs and average July max temperatures of 21-24C. Even then, it is still far too cloudy. My ideal climate would probably be somewhere in the Mediterranean, possibly Valencia which has nice winters and warm summers.
  19. I'm going to guess early as well, maybe May 25th.
  20. Not record mild, just consistent temperatures. Most days have been 7-11C which is pretty average for winter. The only notable thing is that there has been a very small range in the temperatures. It is not notable that there has not been snow yet, we don't even see snow every year
  21. This is what normal winters in the UK are like. Personally I will take this every day of the week over freezing cold weather, I have bills to pay and work to do.. I quite like 12C in January compared to 2C for sure! Much easier to get out of bed when it isn't freezing!
  22. I normally wouldn't expect snow in December. So nothing particularly unusual about this past month.. we are in the firing line of the Atlantic after all. Mild and wet is what our winters should be like. I would probably expect a snow event where it sticks to the floor and we get at least 5cm maybe every 2 years? However I definitely won't complain if we don't get snow this year, this mild weather is lovely for the heating bills (being a student myself ) and it is lovely to hear the wind and rain against my window at night. Also I can go out in a light jacket. Win/win situation!
  23. Wow was it really that hot here? I thought it felt hotter than the 30C forecast but 34 is pretty impressive, not gone above 33C since 2006 so that's decent.
  24. I couldn't live on the Shetland islands.. that climate just sounds plain horrible! October here is sunnier and the same temperature pretty much as it is there in July.
