Well, to be fair, it's been a great day of snowy weather for me in Ogmore Vale. The snow overnight was much better than expected, it's just a shame this afternoon's intensity didn't last a little longer. Looks like that's it now until the next system comes in overnight, but I'm not expecting much (if anything) from that here in South Wales. Attention now turns to mid and North Wales - enjoy!

So, I wonder if we can squeeze a few more snow events out of our winters, before climate change puts the lid on it for good? I'm grateful that I'm old enough to have experienced proper winters in the 80s - frequent snow cover and ice days! The younger generation will sadly never experience what us older folk did. I hope you are all well btw. Some of you may remember that my mum died two days before Christmas last year, well I have just sold her house, the family home that I grew up in. I keep feeling like I've betrayed her. Anyway, it's a time for me to look to what lays ahead, which hopefully includes a cold and snowy winter x

I didn't say temperatures were not below freezing. The humidity has been low as a result of low dew points, coupled with the wind has resulted in no noticeable frost, where I live at least. Plenty of ice around though. I agree with it being better than mild mush but it seemed likely we could have managed a snowy breakdown. Alas, not to be.

I'm not normally this downbeat, but it has to be said, this cold spell has been pants for Wales! We may get a little snow on Saturday but probably not much before milder air floods in. Where I live it's been cold, windy, dry and not even that sunny. No frost or freezing fog because of the wind, which wasn't quite strong enough to blow many of those snow showers affecting the east of England this far west, just one or two on Monday. Altogether a bit of a yawn!!
