  1. Certainly comparable to storm Eleanor a few weeks ago and we had an amber warning for that event!
  2. Watching the local news, mature trees uprooted, power cuts, landslides and flooding this morning. How the Met office didn’t issue at least a yellow warning for this I don’t know! Storm naming and warnings have been abysmal over the last few weeks.
  3. This is the noise I can hear laying in bed atm F782FDD0-258E-4C6B-BFE8-FB4ED6B8AD81.MOV
  4. Really blowing hard here now, noisy around the house, it’s howling can hear the woods just down the road roaring - very strong! Wouldn’t be surprised to hear reports of damage trees down etc with this strength of wind out there atm...
  5. Surprised the warnings aren’t more extensive given some of the predicated wind speeds from various model output. 50-60mph+ gusts are being suggested further south away from Scotland, could be very nasty as the front moves through.
  6. Started off as rain last night and I woke up at 1am and it had turned to snow leaving a slight covering of snow/slush. Central Cumbria with some elevation has had a decent fall, my other half has just got to work in Penrith there’s a few inches there.
  7. Minus 5.5c this morning, stunning winters day but very chilly hasn’t got above freezing all day. Still very much frozen where the sun hasn’t touched.
  8. Drizzle and 2 degrees, looking forward to some sunnier days and sharp frosts... maybe get some snow in March/April as usual lol
  9. Feeling a bit colder today, poor visibility misty and 3 degrees.
  10. I think the Irish Met have named most of the named storms we've seen so far this winter, they have lower thresholds for wind speeds/warnings. I expect if the Irish Met hadn't have named Eleanor then the UK Met would've given they issued an amber warning for gusts in excess of 80 to 90mph, and you could argue they would've issued a red warning if the storm had impacted the UK during the day at a busier time. Named storm or not, any warning be it yellow amber or red is issued to make people aware of the potential for disruption to their daily lives, obviously the higher up the scale more serious impacts are expected which may prevent us going about our day to day lives, and pose serious risks.
  11. Bit calmer tonight thank god! Ended up having some sleeping tablets last night, Eleanor was rather loud.. sunny cold & frosty come the weekend, nice change ?
  12. Well my fence didn’t survive Eleanor’s wrath! Probably not the best idea using that stuff, acted like a sail and brought it down! House opposite has lost some tiles off the roof.
  13. Yikes, very strong gusts now in Carlisle! Was trying to go to sleep...
  14. 72mph gust well inland over Ireland @ Ballyhaise about 80m elevation.
  15. I believe they were around 60mph, I haven’t seen any model prediction for the wind speeds we’ve just seen over Ireland.
  16. Wind speeds/gusts are quite a bit higher than some of the latest model guidance would’ve had you believe! 90-100mph is quite a noteworthy event.
  17. Met office have issued an amber warning now, risk of 80-90mph gusts! https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/mobile/warnings/uk
  18. Very windy in Carlisle but nothing out of the ordinary, that’s a bit further north from here. Had to tape my letterbox up lol
  19. Latest satellite of storm Dylan tracking across Scotland.
  20. Pretty good call from he Met Office with forecast wind speeds in the warning area, despite the GFS downgrades yesterday. A few exposed stations in NI & recently SW Scotland have recorded gusts 75-80mph. Could be nasty though the central belt in the next few hours as Dylan continues to track eastwards out into the North Sea.
  21. Hey, I’m good thanks. Dam, knew it was sub zero eh haha... Getting very gusty now here in north Carlisle, pretty noisy outside. Gusts 50-70mph from Wales northwards on XC weather, highest so far Malin head 71mph. Windy for many though even further south.
