  1. I cant fully understand how as much snow as is being mentioned will settle on the eastern half of NI on Friday with tempertures of 4 to 6 degrees. Would any of the more experienced members give a view on this?
  2. Imagine how much snow we'd have gotten today in the Armagh/Louth area if what fell from the sky had of been snow :-( Snow is such a marginal event, a few degree cooler and i'm sure we would have seen 20cm of laying snow. Ah well - there are 6 weeks of winter left.
  3. I think the Sunday/Monday event has been downgraded. The prec has slightly reduced and the flow seems to have moved slightly further south. The UK MO also seem to have reduced their warning to the very south of the UK so my guess is that any decent snow will be south of a line between wicklow and limerick. As previously stated this will become a nowcasting event with local snow (>2cm) still possible for all.
  4. The Ensembles don't seem to support temps of +3 or +4. I also believe that the NW Min/Max Temps are for guidance proposes only. Anyway we'll have to wait and see. As we have seen in recent weeks looking beyond T+72 is F.I and anything could happen. That said we all like to have a look My 2pence worth is that if the Easterly airflow quickened its pace by a few knots, those of us 10miles inland from the east coast might see another 10cms between Sunday night and Monday night but this will very much be a nowcasting event.
  5. fear sneachta, Met E have stated that we might see a SLIGHT rise in temps. Given that we see -7 at dublin airport last night a SLIGHT rise does not mean that it will turn milder.
  6. Blizzard conditions on and off here from about 5pm. 3ins of snow laying and possibly more to come
  7. I had 3 inches of snow at about 6am but it quickly disappeared. All in all a bit of a wash out. Fingers crossed Thursday night or Friday night deliver a bit more.
  8. Worryingly the radar has this front turning to sleet after an hour or two. Temps need to drop a couple of degree.
  9. I'm becoming increasing excited that we might see a significant snow fall (5-10cm) in the Down, Armagh and Louth areas tonight. Just hoping that Easterly wind doesn't dive South once it hits land.
  10. South Dublin plus Counties Wicklow, Laois, Carlow, Wexford, Kilkenny and Waterford should see a lot of snow tonight. North of Dublin along the east coast is likely to see small accumulations.
  11. I think snowfall of >3cm in Northern Ireland tonight is still very marginal. Looking at the radar, England's snow showers seem to be tracking in more of a Northernly direction than we would like.
