Bridge closure 2147:
Oulton Broad road bridge is to be closed shortly, Waveney District Council says.
It says water levels are now too high for cars to cross safely.
Revised Suffolk warning 2139:The Suffolk Resilience Forum says it expects the tidal surge to hit the Suffolk coastline "up to an hour earlier than predicted - and may be slightly higher".
It said the next high tide at Lowestoft was expected at about 23:00.
A spokesperson said the tidal surge had hit parts of Norfolk an hour early, and "in some cases has been 200-300mm higher than estimated".
Webcam at Oulten seems to be out but there's a picture here from about 20 minutes ago.

I'd just like to thank Southernman for looking after me and making me a boiled egg and bringing me various things, as I am in bed and probably will be stuck here for a few days. And he didn't complain about it -well, only a tiny bit.He was very good and visited me in hospital every day even though he isn't 100 per cent well himself.
You look after me when you're able.

I managed to get a funnel picture at the last Lowestoft air display just over a year ago. Also a short video of it turning. Good job it didn't touch down.

Thanks for the link, can never have too many webcams when it is stormy. Selsey sticks out into the Channel further than Bognor so may catch the weather more, depends which direction the wind comes from. Nice to have a cam facing east and one west too!

One of my daughters is acting reception manager at Bunn Leisure. I'll be phoning her on Monday to make sure all is ok. As you live down that way I'm sure you can appreciate that even on a very windy day the weather can cause havoc down there.

Oops sorry Nick, I forget about trolls.
A nice web-cam from Bognor if Monday does come off. better in daylight!
A couple at Bunn Leisure in Selsey too.

Southernman has described the Selsey tornado to me, he was living there.
Weird it was. I was sitting on the edge of my bed at about 11.50 pm. I said to my other half about the patter of hailstones on the window. All of a sudden they were the size of marbles and bigger so I moved back away from the window. My OH had already ducked under the covers ! Then there was this roaring noise and it felt like the wall and windows were going to be sucked out then it seemed like they were pushed the opposite way. The windows didn't break, thank goodness, but the walls had cracked on some room corners and the cracks were big enough to get your fingers in. From floor to ceiling. Some are still able to be seen.

Wife just arrived home from Norwich and said she thought the Acle Straight was fine, and the A12 was better than that. Hope she's not telling fibs so I get stuck tomorrow morning.
Maybe they have griited both since as I went through there an hour ago. Maximum speed of all of us was 25-30 mph.
-
Acle straight to Yarmouth and A12 out of Yarmouth. Roads not much better than sideroads. Not been gritted when I was on them. Slow moving traffic.
-
They take over the whole road, well worth a trip down there tomorrow morning.
I'll see how the snow is in the morning and take a look.
Sorry mods, double post.

We are on Gunton Cliff and the snow fell so thick for about two hours that it did look as though it had been sprayed on. The kids will be sledging down Links Road tomorrow morning.
How do they stop at the bottom........the concrete blocks ?

No, my comment stands, what the hell have kent and sussex got to do with our part of the world.
Read post 54.

Can anyone explain why it has been snowing here for an hour but there is nothing on the radar.....not complaining btw!
It shows how local it can be. We're only 27 miles from you and we haven't had anything for hours.
-
Hilarious !

Swearing was not necessary. I believe comment was more likely made out of frustration due to certain unnamed places getting a lot more snow. We are all adults and I am sure can just move on as per normal cant we?
Janet
Yes.

To be honest mate, I'd just ignore the comment. The chances of him saying that to a stranger's face would be somewhere near zero. Most people here would also agree.
I was just suprised to see that sort of comment on a weather forum.
-
The point I was trying to make was that earlier the news just said Kent and Sussex. Now they have updated it to include Essex. No need to swear is there??
-
who gives a flying F**k about Kent and Sussex?
why dont you just go and invite them to this thread?
I'll not post anymore on here. Goodbye.
-
Kent police say military on standby if weather worsens. Latest news from Sky says Kent, Sussex and now Essex at risk of worst of it tomorrow.
-
Very slow thaw here at the moment.
-
I take more notice from the comments on here than I do of the TV. Ultimately, though, I look out the back bedroom window !!
-
Agreed.
He seems to have been around for years. What was the main channel he used to be on, before Freeview came about?

Thanks for that. I've been quite ill for a couple of days so I haven't been able to get online.
