  1. Very luckily managed to dodge the showers today. Pure luck as there were have been some lively ones across the south this afternoon.
  2. SunnyG the forecast was for sunny spells and 15c today.
  3. We are nailed on for a wet first 10 days or so of April. Anything beyond that I don’t think we can say with any confidence. It’s tough at the moment but there’s nothing to suggest we can’t get a flip to warm, sunny and dry as we push into late April and May. The flip happened very suddenly in April 2018 after a very cold March and a very cool and wet start to April that year.
  4. A late strat warming is usually the death knell for any early Spring warmth. Southerly tracking lows, northern blocking, lows stuck between areas of high pressure making the UK a trough magnet. It’s why I am always against the idea of having one so late in the season.
  5. After some morning showers it ended up being an ok day. Plenty of sunny spells this afternoon and dry after about 11am.
  6. In Absence of True Seasons yep 2022 was a decent Spring overall. Add that to the phenomenal Summer and it was a great period of weather.
  7. Northern blocking can be more common in March and April than during Winter.
  8. Derecho Yep it was a chilly start to April. Overall Spring 2022 was quite good. It was a little dull in May, but each month was quite warm and March and April were both sunnier than average, particularly March.
  9. Azazel you're right, looking back, London got above 20c only twice in April 2022 on the 13th and 15th, but we had a lot of dry days in March and April that year and overall each month in the Spring of 2022 was warmer than average in terms of maximum daily temperatures.
  10. Rinse and repeat. A window of sunshine followed by ANOTHER band of rain moving through. It's just relentless at the moment. It will turn at some point, but not anytime soon.
  11. Looks like pretty much all of the UK (not just the SE), barring the NE of Scotland had the worst of it in February re sunshine:
  12. kold weather Another example was a very wet spell in March/April 2018 suddenly flipping to warm/hot and dry for the next several months.
  13. Yes, it will end and we will enter a dry spell at some point. When? Who knows.
  14. Arctic Hare that was a crazy high temperature for Jan, but very localised due to the foehn effect.
  15. It’s turned into a decent afternoon after an hour or so of rain. Lots of sunny spells now.
  16. Well at least the rain moved through pretty sharpish today. Starting to brighten up.
  17. A nice morning is now turning into another spell of depressing rain. Looks like it’s moving through quite quickly though so hopefully will brighten up again once it passes through in a couple of hours. A few heavy showers behind it though….
  18. Summer8906 maybe. I’d need to look again. From a sunshine perspective, there are only 2 years I can pick out from the last 10 where the SE has had the worst of it from a sunshine totals vs average (anomaly) perspective. That’s 2021 and arguably 2013 (albeit 2013 was barely above average for sunshine anywhere).
  19. Arch Stanton not being pedantic at all. Even when I look at the anomalies I don’t see the SE regularly having the worst of it.
  20. B87 do we? When I look at the anomaly maps going back over 10 years, I see a mixed bag. Some years we’re drier than average, some years wetter. Some years the NW is a little drier than their average than we have been vs our average and sometimes it’s vice versa. Always worth remembering that the NW’s rainfall totals can be double ours on average, so even a bit less than usual in actual values can translate into chunky percentage points below the average. I reckon if you told someone from Glasgow that they have had the “better” of the weather because they only had 1,100mm of rain instead of their usual nearly 1,300mm and we got 750mm of rain versus our usual 615mm they’d probably laugh in our face.
  21. Not sure what you mean here? The SE is typically the warmest, driest part of the country and only behind the south coast in terms of sunshine. Where have we had the worst of it regularly? Do you mean in terms of actual values or what we’ve been getting versus the climatic norm? Even if you’re just talking about the latter I don’t see how this is true on a “regular” basis.
  22. Sunshine or showers for Easter weekend? WWW.BBC.CO.UK Sunshine or showers for Easter weekend?
  23. Beautiful morning, sunny and warm. Shame it’s not going to last. Looks **** later.
  24. TwisterGirl81 today looks like a stationary front has plonked itself just to the west of you. Non stop rain just from the west of Exeter to the tip of Cornwall.
