Feel this could turn out marginal for many, esp if you are near the east coast. No expert, but I'm (luckily) quite high up and far from the coast. So far, what is arriving is snow, but T went up quickly as it came in. Still only 0.8 C, but enough to make things seem a just a little wetter. Lived in North Berwick as a teenager. Snow desert - warm air off the sea meant we were always gazing inland longingly at the snow covered garleton hills while getting soaked in cold rain. Even where I am now, I can drive along the bottom of the leader water valley and see the 'snowline' along the hills on either side. Climb maybe 75 m to my house and it's snow again. If it gets heavy enough, it should stay snow if you are not sitting on the beach, as it tries to melt it can suck all the heat from the air, holding the temp lower, even if it is above zero. Not going to forecast as I'm a chemist, not a weatherman, but like shuggee says, don't give up hope and if in doubt, stick your head out...
