Cracking storm coming in from the North West now with thunder every 30 seconds or so and flickers of lightning. The wind has completely dropped out too ahead of it.
Sun back out now and the temperature has shot up to 15°C almost straight away. I have only heard one rumble of thunder so I'm hoping the next batch of showers delivers some more lightning.
The radar looks like it does during a snowy northerly in winter. The temperature is only 10°C right now in the heavy rain so it feels a bit like one too!
Only heard one rumble of thunder so far but there's been plenty of downpours with hail. It looks even worse south of here in North Yorkshire at the moment.
Torrential rain around half an hour ago. It feels like something thundery could kick off today given that its only lunch time and we are already getting these downpours.
Heavy hail shower here at 10:30 this morning, but since then I've been watching the showers slide past to my west. Very gusty winds when a shower gets nearby though!
Lets hope those thundery downpours heading towards the Newcastle area from Scotland make it this far, although this feed of low cloud might kill them off. I notice it was over 5 degrees warmer in SE Scotland than it was here today!
Just been out, loads of flooded roads around already. It must be worse in County Durham where the heaviest stuff seems to have hit, although its pretty torrential here now.
A few big splashes of rain but the worst seems to have passed by to the west. Never mind, there were some pretty dramatic clouds to be seen this afternoon if nothing else.
The weather could be a bit more interesting today, it looks as though some heavy downpours could break out this afternoon in the northerly airflow, hopefully with some thunder.
