  1. Terrific lightning display from Port de Pollença in Majorca, I think the storm is actually over in Menorca!

    1. 95 Degrees

      95 Degrees

I remember being in Port De Pollenca in August 2005 and the storms were incredible, as was the intensity of the rain, still the best thunderstorm/rainI've exprienced up until this point.

Port de Pollenca is a stunning place. The Pine walk is beautiful and would love to live there. Quite a few celebrities often found in the area!

  2. The rain has turned to snow in Warwickshire, didn't expect that today!

  3. Fantastic lightning display in Central Florida this evening :)

  4. Grey skies and light rain in Florida today - its like North Shields in January, except its 30 degrees.

  5. Very scary landing here in Florida this afternoon during a strong thunderstorm!

  6. 24-28°C widely in the North East already this morning, this afternoon should be a scorcher!

  7. Finally finished all my A Levels and entrance tests - hopefully the weather will turn nice again so I can enjoy it properly!

  8. Great weekend for snow, but I definitely want some Spring weather soon.

Normally I'm a cold weather person until May, but the snow started in October this year - 5 months ago!

Why not have a very cold March and a very warm May, should make both camps happy

There's plenty of time for warm weather but limited scope for any more cold weather - our climate is naturally mild, relatively speaking.

  9. Saw some kids having fun sledging today near Haltwhistle... with the A69 about 50m away from the bottom of the slope! :S

  10. Left a very snowy Tyneside to find snow in Keswick - I must have pleased the weather gods lately!

  11. Incredibly heavy snow in Newcastle this afternoon!

Barely a sprinkling out to the west of the city - I'm sitting in traffic on my way to the dry, barren Lake District.

  12. Darren Bett getting in a bit of a muddle - I'd love to sea these snow showers moving into East Anglia from the Irish Sea!

      *See, not sea.

  13. Darren Bett getting in a bit of a muddle - I'd love to sea these snow showers moving into ea

  14. The snow is pretty compacted here on the footpaths - time for a top up!

  15. Beautiful scenes outside this afternoon now that the snow has stopped and the sun is glistening off the pristine cover :)

  16. We have a covering of snow this morning - what a lovely surprise!

I thought today was going to be really frustrating with showers skirting by to the east - how wrong I was!

  18. IT'S SNOWING!!! A very light sugar dusting so far :D

  19. Still snowing heavily, but the covering I have is very slushy. Had this happened in a couple of months we would have seen a significant snow event!

    1. Isolated Frost

Well you never know, the SSTs would have been higher then so the convection would have been lower. But yes, we would have had lots of snow regardless.

  20. Nice dusting on the grass now - pretty decent for October!

  21. First snow shower of the season!

nothing here yet the the sky is grey and its bitter out

Showers have penetrated inland to Sandhutton- just had a moderate shower, though only rain so far.

  22. Another warm and very humid sunny day in Penrith - the forecasts have been very innacurate re. the weather front which was supposed to affect Cumbria.

its horrible in west cumbria, maxes of 15c, overcast, foggy and rain on and off.

  23. According to the Met Office, yesterday's storm in Newcastle WAS a supercell. This explains the rotation I saw! http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/north-east-news/evening-chronicle-news/2012/06/29/was-the-newcastle-storm-a-dreaded-supercell-72703-31288685/

No idea, they probably said that had supercellular characteristics (rotation, large hail, funnel clouds) or something, then the paper reports it as fact :S

Ah ok, Sorry thought the Met Office had actually said that, Sensationlist Journolism at work - Lolz

Well they may have actually said that, I'm just speculating whether the newspaper was stretching what they said a little.

  24. Wow, half of Newcastle is a mess this morning! Generally we're getting back to normal, but I feel sorry for some of the businesses in the town which are wrecked.

  25. Gone very achy, and my brother has said the same - could that be caused by these thunderstorms?

I felt like this earlier. More notably I started feeling quite numb in my fingers. Very odd. All down to the very electrical atmosphere I think!
