  1. But not really by most people. Still we'll look up and then look at the weather, hacked or not at least we will look at the weather. Good luck chasing this year!
  2. I don't get cookie's thought of taking them all down. They're kind of a mandatory severe storm warning thing for us. Have a great storm chase tour!! I'm in most hated state of Nebraska....LOL
  3. You guys were so close. I would have been terrified!!! Look at all the traffic on the highway too!
  4. This is a graphic for the El Reno Tornado of where chasers were in comparison to the tornado. Very interesting. Karen
  5. I saw the footage at work today and was devastated. Three p.m. central time when I was getting some iced tea at a local fast food place. I've been watching the footage since I got home at midnight central time. It's so upsetting to see that little kids lost their lives not to mention any family losing loved ones. I went to school in SE nebraska and a practice TW was going into a central hallway and covering our heads with a book. There aren't basements in any schools as far as I know. In 1975 when I was a kid in school we had an f4 go through the city, school had let out but some businesses held employees. We had only three deaths. In 1975 we had a twenty minute warning which is huge. I guess this Moore tornado cycled up really fast and due to the bedrock below most of Oklahoma few people have basements. My neighbor, her kids and husband recently moved to a burb of OKC and built a new home there without a shelter. I hope this changes her mind!!!! Choctaw OK. I'm going back to watching coverage until 3am. I read earlier that the chasers were safe, and like myself...saddened with the loss of life. Karen Omaha Nebraska
  6. I love watching your vids when you come stateside. I found this video diary and wish you guys would do the same. It's so neat. I don't know what it takes to create this kind of video but you all have the same experiences. Link is here You guys don't share the day to day in the car stuff. Karen USA
  7. I don't normally chime in here because I get such a laugh out of the "nebraska" thing. I wanted to tell Nick F that you can't grow up in the midwest without knowledge of dangerous weather from extreme cold and blizzards to tornadoes. I've lived here all of my life and have never been in knocking on wood.....a tornado. I've been close twice in 50 yrs. I turned 50 this year. ugh. Think to yourself, about being warned all of your life for something that's Never happened no matter how nasty a thunderstorm has looked to you. If you ask anyone from Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas etc., most haven't seen a tornado before EVER. You chaser that come over the pond have seen more than I have! It's why we don't run home to the basement. Thunderstorms, and TW are very typical. If anything changes it should be how constant warnings are. It should look so dangerous that we are in danger of imminent death. Just an Opinion of course. Karen Nebraska
  8. I never respond to this site, living stateside, but this outbreak scares me. I hope it stays in the South East and East as some of you have suggested it would. Someone on here said I'd go to the basement and stay there. I'm feeling like that now after this huge outbreak. Omaha Nebraska...and welcome to the chasers Friday? Karen
  9. I can't get rid of the video of sean spitting chewing tobacco in his T.......his always dirty, greasy hands, what the guys that had to fit the TIV with video and sound said about how dirty, and urine filled the inside of the TIV is...TOO much INFO...>TMI Anyway that trailer looks awesome..I'll probably see it if it is available near me Omaha Karen
  10. I found out just tonight or this morning that Matt Huges died...the guy from the "doghouse" that got Sean his first and only tornado intercept last year. I googled him for the next hour trying to find out what happened. It's human nature I guess. I was treated to all kinds of...shhhh no one needs to know, or did he die in a tornado? Matt died from Severe Depression. I wish it wasn't treated like a weakness but what it is, which is an illness. To the outside world the man had everything, a huge career, two sons and a wife and at his young age, but like Cancer, Depression took him before his time. I'd love to see people actually discuss this instead of trying to sweep it away as if it was his fault that he had a serious illness. My condolences to his family, his colleages, his friends. Matt, until your illness is understood, how many more above average souls will we lose??? RIP Matthew John Huges..."Storm Chaser"
  11. I can't believe you're already going to be in my "neck of the woods" I hope the severe threat doesn't move North to Omaha. I grew up in FC and worked for 15 yrs in Hiawatha KS. I remember leaving work often for a tornado threat. I live in Omaha now, which is hopefully North of this severe weather threat. I prefer to come here and read of your successes in say...Texas or Oklahoma. I didn't agree that this was going to be a bad year for weather...the South East is just having weather they usually get in Feb. I wonder if that moves the threat into even later in the year??? Welcome to the Storm chase teams to the USA. Good hunting...as long as it's well South of my back yard! Lol I wish everyone at least an F3...same as above! Karen Omaha Nebraska
  12. So do you all dread Spring weather? Like we do here? Last year we had a very severe May and early June. I don't mind Severe weather when I can watch it on TV but having it overhead? Last Spring was a rare year for Nebraska however. We had very severe storms, tornado warnings that lasted over three hours, wind storms, etc. I've read that el nina will make this year even worse than last year. I am not looking forward to that. How is your weather looking for next year after record snow??
