  1. Can’t be bad, being woken up by an unexpected bang in the morning. It is Friday after all
  2. Plus the lamppost watch might be a little on the dull side
  3. Definitely wouldn’t say no to a bit of frost & fog, but frost seems to be the new snow.
  4. So Glad they put the Amber warning out for Thunderstorms . Torrential drizzle here all day
  5. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/aug/29/the-air-conditioning-trap-how-cold-air-is-heating-the-world interesting read in the Guardian today.
  6. The earth is undoubtedly warming at an alarming rate and to be honest I think that hundreds of millions of additional AC units would do huge environmental damage. Not only do they release harmful gases that damage the ozone layer but also the raw energy needed to run them 24/7 wouldn’t be great not to mention the artificial warming of towns and cities. Unfortunately everyone’s got to do their bit.
  7. Just been on the Met office website having a look at 2018-19 rainfall averages compared to 1981-2010 average. Looks below normal for the south east to me but I’ll bow to your superior knowledge on this one.
  8. I think it’s more a culmination of the lack of rain over the past 2-3 years in the south east including in the winter rather than a few passing showers in summer that might make the ground a bit soggy. Definitely noticeable around here that ponds that are normally full of life are either bone dry or have a muddy puddle in the middle.
  9. It certainly is needed around these parts. Local lake to us looks more like the Serengeti.
  10. EPS certainly suggesting the south & south east will be at least a couple of degrees below average next week.
  11. Oh yes definitely agree with the posts above. Its just the media seem to be going a little over the top on this one, maybe it’s because of the run of dry weather we’ve had. Time will tell I guess.
  12. Anyone would think it’s monsoon season the way the media are going on. Couple of hours of rain and a bit of wind Friday night & Saturday and then changeable next week with showers, sunshine & temps around average, where’s the news story for our region?? Largely dry today in the southeast after a wet start.
  13. They certainly have, and it’s grim reading if you like a bit of cold
  14. Log delivery in and stored and dare I say the outlook is starting to look a bit Autumnal That said it’s certainly been a very usable day despite being overcast, got plenty done in the garden
  15. Unfortunately but not surprisingly, Artic sea ice is currently at a record low https://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/charctic-interactive-sea-ice-graph/
  16. Probably shouldn’t need to wait too long before another record attempt
  17. I think you’ll find me in the, a bit of everything, brigade. That’s why this summers been so decent to date.
  18. It’s in Fahrenheit not Celsius If you wanted to be really picky it isn’t the hottest earths ever been by a long stretch. It should have read hottest since modern day readings.
  19. Last month was the hottest June ever recorded in Earth’s history, with temperatures nearly 20 degrees Fahrenheit above average. July looks like it’s on track to be the hottest month ever recorded, period. This year overall is on pace to be the third hottest on record globally, according to Climate Central. Last year was the fourth warmest, behind 2016 (the warmest), 2015, and 2017. Last year was also the very hottest year on record for the world’s oceans. taken from twitter.
  20. Just found this out by mistake but if you want to create that Spanish holiday atmosphere in your garden in the summer, release a box of adult crickets. Sounds just like Andalusia
  21. Do you think ? With any sunshine would be 22-25 I would imagine. That’s perfect for a ginge like me
  22. This is much more like it, usable pleasant weather without roasting ur nuts off
