  1. The showers off the East coast are definitely pepping up and converging in bands (I can see 5 or 6). How far inland they will get is the question.
  2. I've got a few short videos. I put one from this morning on YouTube called Cockapoo tackling Scotland snow, I couldn't get it to upload onto this site. Snow at that point was 2 feet around my back garden but we are seriously snowed in now. I will stick the one when I saw the snowploughs when I get a bit of time tomorrow morning.
  3. 2 snowploughs are currently stuck on the main road between Lennoxtown and Strathblane at the Lennoxtown end. They were trying to unblock the road going into my estate. The snow is blowing across the Campsies over the fields and is around 5'feet deep in places.
  4. I'm in Lennoxtown and we are just over 2 feet of snow on the level parts, the drifts are around 4 feet.To measure it I had to stand in the snow and the depth was between my knee and my hip - just over 2 foot.
  5. I'm 10 miles north of Glasgow and it's been snowing heavily almost non stop since yesterday morning. It's been a constant train of showers. Snow depth was over 30cm when I went to bed last night and it's well above that now.
  6. Have had non stop blizzard like conditions most of today. I think my estate must be cut off now as there are drifts of 2 to 3 feet everywhere. The level snow is really hard to estimate but I'd say approx 20cm. I'll try to upload some pictures later.
  7. Another very cold start to the day for me at -6.6c with a hard frost.
  8. -5.3c just now for me which is colder than any minimum last winter.
  9. Snowing here and starting to lie on grass and cars. 1.5c and dew point below zero for first time tonight -0.1c.
  10. Heavy snow here for the last hour which is way ahead of forecast. The temperature started tanking from about 9pm when it was 7.8c and raining heavily. It's now 1.3c and the dewpoint is 0.4c. The ground is saturated because of the amount of rain we've has since yesterday afternoon but the snow started to settle about 30minutes ago and it's all white now. Things could get interesting if this keeps going.
  11. I was driving through Bishopbriggs earlier and the snow was was wet but heavy with huge flakes. Here there is a bit of interest with a heavier band of showers moving in from the east and the temperature down a bit on this morning. 2.5c/1.4c.
  12. Sleety rain for me with surface temperature and dewpoint on the wrong side of marginal. As often happens when the upper temps look much better for snow later on - dropping from -5c to -8c about midnight - there is no precipitation around. At least the tops of the hills looks as though they are turning white. Currently 3.1c with the dewpoint 1.6c.
  13. Just had a snow shower pass through there. Reasonably heavy for a few minutes but didn't last long. 1.9c/0.2c.
  14. Just had a cracking hail shower that turned everything white within seconds. Some more heavy showers showing up on the radar just now. 3.1c/0.4c.
  15. 7cm of level snow on the bin lid so far. Still a few more showers lined up to come in so I've done well. Temperature is 0.7c and dewpoint -0.2c so should be ok for snow for a while.
  16. Heavy snow just now. Large flakes and a gusty wind. 1.3c/0.1c.
  17. Heavy rain has turned a bit sleety but I feel it may be too late to turn to snow before it clears away. I've managed to keep a fair bit of snow despite rain off and on all day. Temperature 1.1c/0.3c.
  18. It really is too close to call with uppers just on the wrong side of marginal but surface cold maybe making the difference for some. I'm just 10 miles north east of Glasgow and its still snow for me from the little bunch of showers ahead of the main band but it wouldn't surprise me to see it turn to rain. 1.0c/-0.2c.
  19. Some light snow for me over the last hour that's passed through without really amounting to anything other than being good to see. I'm hoping that temperature either remains the same or ideally drops a little bit in advance of the heavier stuff. Currently 1.3c/-0.1c.
  20. Met Office Warning issued: DatesWarningChief Forecaster's assessmentWeather Impact Matrix Issued at: 1130 on Sun 17 Jan 2016 Valid from: 2300 on Sun 17 Jan 2016 Valid to: 1000 on Mon 18 Jan 2016 A mixture of sleet and snow will gradually spread eastwards overnight on Sunday, before easing during Monday morning. This is expected to lead to further accumulations of snow in places, with 1 to 3 cm quite widely, and 4 to 8 cm in some places, particularly over higher ground. Ice will be an additional hazard in some areas, especially where sleet falls onto sub-zero surfaces. Please be aware of the potential for difficult winter driving conditions. A complex set of frontal systems will push areas of precipitation into Scotland late on Sunday evening, this easing again on Monday morning. It will be worth keeping up to date in case of changes in the expected extent of heavier snowfall. Local Authorities affected and associated warning levels Argyll and Bute, West Dunbartonshire, East Dunbartons
  21. A couple of met office warnings out for ice and snow overnight as a result of the fronts from the south west bumping into the colder block.
  22. Lightly snowing, not much more than a flurry but looks nice. 1.0c/-0.9c.
  23. 6cm of snow for me yesterday which was better than I expected and no melting although temperature has crept up to just above freezing 0.5c/-0.4c. Today for me it's a case of keeping an eye on the radar to the south west of England to see how far north and how intense the rainfall is. The challenge today is that precipitation north of the border looks light and the colder uppers have moved away temporarily so I am not expecting much in the way of snow, if any. On the plus side embedded cold is better due to more snow on the ground than previously forecast so you never know. The forecast from the models this morning still looks as though the Atlantic milder air will win out Thursday/Friday although GFS looks like there could be a bit of snow from this and I like the GEM as it's not as progressive as the other models, it's got it pretty close over the last couple of weeks and continues to be less jumpy than the other models.
