  1. Rumbling away quietly in Borehamwood, Herts for the last half hour - nothing too exciting yet.
  2. Just had two LOUD rumbles of thunder in Hertfordshire - getting excited!
  3. My business partner is on his way back from a trade show in Las Vegas. He was supposed to fly Vegas to Chicago and Chicago to Heathrow. He made it as far as Chicago yesterday, his flight was rescheduled for today to fly Chicago to Brussels and then Brussels to Heathrow arriving 0900 tomorrow. Anyhow, thats cancelled. Bearing in mind I phoned American Airlines the second his flight was cancelled the earliest flight he got rebooked on is next Tuesday to Heathrow via Paris. This really is having a knock on and couldn't have come at a worse time with people travelling at the end of half term. Fortunately for him he's found a hotel with a bar and met a group of 'refugees' from Birmingham - think thats going to get messy!
  4. This thread may be of significance today with Iceland erupting again yesterday: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8620485.stm But this is the news for the UK: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8621407.stm News from Glasgow airport: Travel Advisory: Scottish airports closedLast updated: 5:50am Airspace around Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports has been closed by the national air traffic service, NATS, as a result of volcanic ash drifting across the United Kingdom from Iceland. Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports are closed until further notice. Passengers are instructed NOT to travel to the Scottish airports. All arriving and departing flights are currently suspended.
  5. Absolutely agree - phoned my mother this morning to see if she needed anything. Just can't remember the last time I saw a take action alert. We could well be in for a few interesting days!
  6. So now we are starting to see MetOffice Take Action warnings what exactly do we do - I mean? Run for the hills??
  7. So who's been twitching the curtains so far today? My office has no windows just CCTV feeds from outside which my colleagues have now dubbed the snowcam!
  8. The real deal is when you wake up in the middle of the night and 'just know' it's too bright in your room.
  9. Guilty, lamp post within distance of bedroom window. Is waking up at midnight to 'have a look' normal - does anyone else get grief from their wife? Edit - almost two years and only two posts, gotta stop lurking so much...
