  3. Here is a couple of temps to show the difference on a very small scale Cardiff Barrage 1700hrs temp 1.3 dewpoint 0.2 Bute Park 1700hrs temp 0.7 dewpoint -0.7 Distance as the crow flies about 1.25 miles
  4. Lovely covering this morning unfortunately all starting to thaw rarther quickly the joys of living near the coast will have to pop up the valleys to get a proper snow fix
  5. Hi all in regards to temps and altitude, I live in the center of Cardiff 10 meters asl about a half mile from the Bristol channel and use the Barrage for temps and dew points even then it can be snowing here but raining down the bay If we can not get our snow fix in Cardiff we pop up the valleys to play in the snow I have heard Andy does not mind sharing some of his snow
  6. Hi all was reading through the threads and I see some people where asking about calculating dew points try this not completely acurate but useful
  7. Hi borrowed this from EGHH and Nick Sussex in another thread hope it helps The latest surface plot: You can see the Southerly wind that has elevated the temperatures along the coast from roughly Lymington Westwards. When the wind swings back round and the normal diurnal cooling takes effect, these temperatures should drop back down. What I find really interesting is the low dew points looking across the channel. Even -1 in the middle of the channel. From Nick I've just done a quick paint job here: The area to look for is northern and ne France, bear in mind when you look at the fax chart although it might look like a more s/se flow because you have high pressure to the ne with low pressure out west then the actual surface flow should pull round more to the east or ese.
  8. Bit of a surprise light snow sticking in central Cardiff roll on tonight
  9. Is it me not knowing something and being dull but the operational run seems to stop short of 15th Dec and restart in a new place just before the 15th 5 degrees warmer is this normal as it looks like it was stopped and new variables inputed just an observation

  18. Well looking at the sat24 and the radar seems to be a lot of percipitation moving up from the south temps going down nicely here how ever dewpoints rising looks like Cardiff could be in for a wet start to monday but if the proffesionals a struggling it doesn't hold out much hope for the rest of us to predict the outcome
  19. Hi all anyone got any timings on the next event from the mteo warnings it seems they are sticking closer to the early NAE run than the lataest on with thing being further west
  20. well its probably right for the barrage but when you think about it its got to be 2-3 miles away and right by the water thats bound to modify thinks abit just looked through the window see what you mean by the cars
