According to friends on Fuert the forecast Calima didnt really materialise today. Slight change in wind direction steered it away.

If you read old accounts and writings about Britain, both from locals and foreign travellers, our Isles were rather renowned for their tempestuous, bleak and unsettled conditions during Autumn and Winter. It's a hallmark of our climate.
The question remains - are more storms occurring than in prior decades / centuries? Or are we just simply A) reporting on them more accurately and keenly, and B) shifting the barometers of what classifies as a 'storm' to begin with (which obviously would result in stats showing far more storms, if we now consider 12 hours of wind and rain in Winter (on an Island in Northern Europe with a maritime clime!) as a named storm.
This isn't me dismissing climate change, more-so just questioning the degree to which every single aspect of our weather nowadays, can be directly attributed to aforementioned climate change.
There's always been stormy autumns/winters in the UK, just not year after year.
I actually posted a cheeky, quick Winter 23/24 forecast in another thread on here in mid-November and main theme was that we'll have stormiest winter in years.

Bit of rain and breeze for us today then tomorrow we are back to dry weather. At least for London, this is a load of much ado about very little.
I was having a peep at the MOD thread and honestly I don't get the stress about looking at charts waiting for snow. Fun (or lack of it), yes, but stress????
It worries me when i read "i'm worried about those charts".
Worried!! Why would anyone worry? Frustrated, yes, if you're seeing charts that are forecasting weather you dont like or disappointed, but "worried", seriously?!

Could be, but early Feb at 18c, luverly.

Must admit it is getting a bit overwhelming with all the plane reports. I’d much rather have local reports from on the ground, personally.
Ok. It's still very windy here

Wind speeds really ramped up in last 15 mins (imby).
Yeah, some powerful sustained gusts.

Lashing it down now. The storm has truly arrived in BS34.

Rain has started here and a noticeable pick up in wind gusts.

A predicted 60mph is the highest forecast, for here, at around 22.00 this eve (Weather&Radar).
But drops back to 40mph, only a couple of hours later.

At the mo it's breezy here, nothing unusual. Should get much windier by 6 this eve though.

Looks like this area is in the 'sweet spot' for a spell of severe gusting winds.
Bins already placed behind garage, as our side path faces south west, and it acts like a 'magnet' for gusts in these conditions.

Yes, normal (weather) service will be resumed from tom morn, for here.
2 weeks or so of 'wasted' extra gas for the CH, just to see a few hard frosts.
Give me a week of 13/14c so i can persuade the 'fair one' we dont need the heating on.
Just 4 weeks 'til The Hot Caribbean calls.

12-14c and sunny intervals forecast for here, early-mid next week, with a breezy south westerly. Luverly

Minus 1c already.
Clear skies, no wind, so we'll go down to a bone crunching minus 5 or minus 6c i reck.
Over 2 hours 'til Rovers kick off at The Mem - i wonder if the frost will get into the ground before kick off?

After everything that's happened so far, it wouldn't surprise me if we end up on the warm side of an SSW with record high February and March temperatures
Fingers crossed that we do

Dartmoor quite possibly could. Doubt it’ll be much though, if at all.
Not Dartmoor, but Dartmouth. If the area does cop some snow, Haldon Hill might be dodgy for a while though.

We're thinking of popping down to Dartmouth on Wed morn for a 3-night stay; will it be hit with snow though?

Hmm....
Looking at some charts i reck we might be drier than some forecasts are suggesting for that period.
