  1. i really hate high pressure when its stuck over scandinavia..for some unknown reason the liverpool/halton and north cheshire areas have been completely void of anything approaching snow this winter..sure a few tiny flakes that amounted to not even a dusting..it was too wet. There is something very strange and wrong about these weather patterns of late. Infact the only north westerly I can remember happened at the very start of December but it produced nothing because of the warm atlantic air / water modifying the temps badly. But this time around with blocking over greenland and scandinavia..i would have thought this was meant to be the ideal situation for northerlies?
  2. Would have thought around 1C but i think it depends on whether its still snowing or not and how heavy..but still I think its 1C
  3. I just wonder if Halton is going to see any of this snow period. current conditions: Sky conditions : Fair (Clear at the moment with a few passing clouds every so often) Temp -1.6C last recorded at 930am (temp has been dropping off since 5am) Humidity: 80% Wind Speed: 19 KMH Wind Direction: ENE Barometer: 1025 mb Dewpoint: -2°C Heat Index: 0°C Wind Chill: -4°C Visibility:11 km Conditions last yesterday: light rain, turned to very very light snow around 2pm lasted about 10 mins if that, precipitation stopped, last night temps dropped to around -2C with very much similar conditions as above..around midnight 1am light drizzle, I think it must have turned to ice rain (drizzle) road this morning was white with ice, roof tops not a sign of frost or ice...then it has cleared up considerably. Now we have clear ish skies and really nothing to suggest it will re cloud over and give snow..conditions are perfect currently for snow..so where is it? lol
  4. hehe i meant to put east scotland but somehow forgot to add it...been a long long night lol
  5. it hilarous and very annoying all at the same time..everytime a hint of snow this year where does it end up? the east sodding coast. we get a nw outbreak where does it not snow? yeps the nw of england...infact i seriously doubt in my life time i will ever see snow in the nw of england. why do i say this? it has had more than ample opportunity to snow..for ages now the dew point as been right, the upper air as been right, every other condition right..so what does it do? why only rain..i wouldnt call this winter..id call this autumn ..nothing winter about a few frosty night and rain 0.o the only places immune from global warming? the east and north east of england and north america...in those places its guaranteed to snow..everywhere else where it should snow it rains...this global warming seems to be pretty selective lol
  6. seems to be sitting away from the west coast about 10 miles inland..very odd..considering once again the east coast is going to get battered again. The only chance we have for snow is either nw or from the west if its particulary cold here..both have been poor performers tonight. MetO gave us an over generous 60% chance from 3/5am for heavy snow..it is cloudy and cold but the snow or any precip is completely missing us now...so much for snow threat lolol
  7. Currently sleet/rain after a short period of light snow, expecting it to turn back to snow in the next 45 mins or so..i hope so anyway temp 1.6C down from 2.0C
  8. light snow here in Hale, Liverpool temp i think around 2C expected to drop off for a time with heavy snow apparently :
  9. hi there I just subscribed to the full netweather package and was watching the radar in anticipation of some potential snow, I live near liverpool well i mean towards hale. Looking and interpreting what the radar is showing me seems to be 2 different things. For example several times today it has said we are either under a large blob of snow or its sleeting, the entirety of liverpool is apparently right now under a large pool of sleet..which is rather odd since nothing the radar has shown or continues to show is happening at my post code level..infact its still frosty and rather clear here at the moment. looking at one of the gfs it was actually showing snow from around 2am for a short time ie til around 4 or 5 am and some of that could be heavy before turning back to rain even at lower levels unless i actually interpreted the charts wrongly? Guess since the radar isnt telling me what it really is doing at the moment, is there actually going to be any snow here tonight at this location in the early hours as the gfs as stated?
