  1. Looking at the radar I may just pick us some snow from the northern extent of the shower band coming across from north wales. so far today has been heavy rain, heavy rain showers and some sleety stuff later in the afternoon but hardly anything to write home about. maybe a few surprises in the morning though.
  2. Snowing pretty hard here now. could be an interesting drive over the tops to Turf Moor for the football and even more so coming back.
  3. Maximum of -1c here today and the first of what hopefully will be many ice days over the coming few months. not hopeful for seeing snow on Wednesday, Thursday or whatever day it is, even at my altitude. no science behind that, just not convinced of anything other than cold rain.
  4. Already showing nothing but rain for me so from there it's upgrades all the way I suppose.
  5. Snow getting heavier here now and starting to add to the couple of cm already on the ground. as others have said, a bit of a surprise this one and possibly justifies the willow warning, assuming it hasn't already been removed.
  6. Pretty sure they got that one wrong as well with a last moment change of warning areas as it became apparent that the heaviest rain, expected in the Lakes and North Lancs became centred over south Lancashire, and northern Greater Manchester.
  7. Only slight comfort I've found is seeing pictures on facecloth of the amazing snow in northwest London when they've got about the same as my almost zilch. still at least they've got more than the nothing they were expecting whereas we've gone from being buried to next to nothing. i feel sorry for all the Man U fans sat at Euston wondering whether the snow on the lines is the wrong type.
  8. Good luck with that one but at least you've got something falling. as dry as the Atacami here.
  9. That's the only criticism I would point at the professional organisations and not just the Met. history tells them that everything would head south, a lot of amateur's on here said everything would head south but they stuck to their faith in the models only to end up falling in line with the might of the NW forum. maybe they will learn by their mistakes and not consider us a candidates for similar future events but we as members in the snow starved north west will no doubt still try and convince ourselves that they are wrong and a flake or two is heading our way. meanwhile, finally decided to give the Manchester Christmas Markets a miss so it looks like a mixture of holiday packing and spot the snow flake for me this afternoon.
  10. Yes same here. we are still in the yellow area and have not seen a single flake this morning.
  11. I'd like to see your tweet that wound him up enough to start with hang on a minute. not a very professional response from him but I'd imagine the Meto and BBC are getting a fair bit of stick from both Joe public and the business world over this. imagine the loss of trade at shopping centres if people are not prepared to travel due to the prospect of snow which then doesn't turn up. he is right that it's only a forecast, he is wrong if he thinks they handled it well.
  12. Blooming hell, I was convinced I saw a couple of flakes pass the window but panic over, it's a bit of last nights effort blowing off the conifers.
  13. No we missed most of them up in Bacup and last nights continuous snow from about 7pm until after midnight only added a few millimetres to the cm I already had.
  14. Is it just me or do all areas of snow seem to pivot at the Manchester Ship Canal, give or take a few metres of course. maybe it isn't the case and it just comes from a nagging memory of when I actually used to get heavy snow from frontal events. our "is it isn't it" trip to the Christmas markets is still up in the air as even though we've no falling snow here and little chance of it happening, the thoughts of wandering around a mixture of melting slush, spilt mulled wine and discarded pulled pork baps does nowt for me. anyway at least Sky will be happy.
  15. Don't worry, after your journey through the white hell of the Midlands I'll have the BBQ lit and sun loungers ready at home if you want to call in for a burger and glass of Pims. just wondering whether to cut the grass now or wait until later.
  16. No be fair to Diane, she's probably responsible for every other period of no we end up with but the most powerful force in the universe Sky definately had a hand in this one.
  17. Sorry but my theory is that Sky are responsible for our promised disruptive snow suddenly heading south. Do you really think that with an estimated 1 in 7 of the worlds population watching Sunday's Manchester and Merseyside derbys' that they wanted something as trivial as a bit of white frozen water to spoil their plans and lose them a fortune in advertising.
  18. Yet another thing to add to the list of reasons why we are always let down when it comes to snow.
  19. Just watched the BBC forecast and their version of the Met amber warning area for Sunday is definately further north than the one on the Met O site extending almost to the Ribble. the snow graphics weren't that inspiring but he did say could be further north or south but TBH it showed the entire thing disintegrating during the afternoon so unless there is some very heavy snow in a short space of time, totals even in the sweet spots may not be that great.
  20. Been snowing here on and off for the last hour or so but to put it into context, if it was rain, the cricketers would still be on the pitch. edit, finally something a bit heavier.
  21. Heading to my south west, need a more westerly element to bring my part of the region into the mix but think it will later. one things for sure, it's going to be blooming cold sat on the football this afternoon, snow or no snow. Need to dig out my long johns.
  22. Still got yesterday's slight covering here but nothing since although it is starting to cloud over a bit now so hopefull for something later to compensate for tomorrow's expected letdown.
  23. The problem is that Fred from Essex and his mates usually get their way when it comes to pinching our snow.
