  1. Dry start but the forecast doesn’t offer much hope of it staying that way throughout the day. looking better tomorrow and Sunday although no doubt the weather gods will be leaving no stone unturned to give our region the lions share of any rain on offer but given the relentless crap of the last few months, even a decent two days out of the four would be a good effort, certainly for anyone with outside plans.
  2. Not bad until lunchtime but definitely a bit moist this afternoon. Thankfully it’s cleared through now and hopefully that’s as bad as it gets over the next 4 days.
  3. Not a bad afternoon but it looks like I’ve been chased home up the valley by the mother of all showers and within 5 minutes it went from sunshine to thunder, hailstones and snow. I was going out again but I think I’ll give it a miss.
  4. Weather-history a tad on the moist side if that comes off anything like shown
  5. As already said, rain throughout the day and a generally depressing feel to things. Whether things will buck up for Easter is still to be decided but after the gloom of the last few months, it’s never been more wanted.
  6. Why couldn’t the pretty constant showers crossing here since early afternoon have been snow then at least they would have stopped either north or south and given me a dry usable few hours
  7. Plenty of sunshine today but no shortage of heavy hail and sleety showers either but no white, even on the highest tops I can see from here. all in all, could have been better but could easily have been worse as well.
  8. Sunshine and showers sort of day coming up for most with a postcode lottery of who sees the lions share of the dry, usable weather and who get soaked. It’s sunny here at the moment but in the last half hour we have had a bit of everything including heavy hail and I think that this will be the case throughout the day. hopefully a bit better tomorrow but next week and the Easter weekend onwards are looking, to put it politely, depressingly mixed.
  9. Early finish Friday on one of those rare days that turns out better than forecasted. A cold breeze is the only thing spoiling it but my free late afternoon is taken up by some inside painting so I suppose it doesn’t really matter how nice it is outside.
  10. Weather-history I’m sure we must have had snow up here especially with it saying all roads over the Pennines being blocked but I can’t remember this event.
  11. cheshire snow the mad thread can have as many southerly corrections as it wants at this time of year. I’ll take dry warm and sunny.
  12. Off round the corner to the local for a teatime pint or two and although I’ve not got the slightest bit of Irish decent in me, maybe a celebratory Guinness for a change.
  13. PennineMark just a shame that they’ve taken the car park or is it back again now. On the odd time that I drive in to the centre to pick my missus up from meeting friends it’s a nightmare trying to park these days. your right about the town hall though, never been inside but it’s an impressive building from the outside
  14. Not particularly a train enthusiast but it’s not every day that you come out of Rawtenstall retail park as A4 Pacific Sir Nigel Gresley is slowly heading into the station Just a shame that my phone was in my pocket but a lot of cameras were in action. weatherwise, it’s tuned into a lovely sunny and mild spring afternoon.
  15. Thought it was brightening, now it’s raining. ah well, it’s the weather and it will do what it wants.
  16. Had Worse been and gone by 9, a bit tight going through the front door but we now have a kitchen completely taken over by an American fridge freezer
  17. Up at silly o’clock on a rest day as it looks like we’ve got an early delivery slot from a two letter online electrical retailer. that said it’s a 4 hour slot so 7.15 could still end up being 11.15 but at least it frees up the rest of the day. just need the rain and grime to sod off so that we can make the most of the warm sunshine that’s apparently available at the moment.
  18. A bit of a strange day weather wise, foggy start quickly turned into a lovely sunny morning and a lovely drive up the M6 to Morecambe. sunny while we were looking at caravans but it quickly clouded over as we came back down home. rain then on the way to, during and after the football. another interesting thing was that, thanks to the inability whoever set some temporary lights, we got from the top side of Morecambe to within 2 miles of home in the same time as we did the last 2 miles and then after straight in and out only just made the match. biggest surprise of the day though was that Burnley actually won
  19. I spoke to soon, brightening up nicely now. Off out shortly to the seaside for a look at a couple of caravans and weigh up whether the idea is for us.
  20. Even the forecasted dry, bright and frosty start has ended up as damp and foggy up here. no doubt it will clear in time for the cloud and rain to arrive though but last long enough to suppress the chance of some pleasant warmth.
  21. Rain hammering on the windows again this morning with the sound of the wind roaring through the trees. another great start to a day
  22. If we must have mild weather then why can’t it be the dry sunny type which at least makes it feel pleasant rather than the default cloudy wet conditions that take away any benefit and still leaves us with a cold raw feel. not the briefest glimpse of sunshine here yesterday and although the heaviest of the rain kept away for most of daylight hours, it was still depressingly wet and the 12c reached hardly felt pleasant. today’s forecast is hinting at the mid teens but again the threat of rain is there so it’s that we get a clearance and some warm feeling sunshine as the front heads off north.
