      Yeah, remember it well.

the day after my daughters christening we had about 4 inches of snow on the Monday and a repeat performance on the Thursday.

then it was pretty well wall to wall crap until spring

Not stayed in Cancun although been there for the day but it’s a big place so plenty of choice of hotels although they are a bit more expensive than further out.

The resorts and hotels probably stretch for 100 miles down the coast and if you want hotels on fantastic beaches look at Playacar area about 30 miles away, still handy for the airport and a bit quieter.

Been a few times, hotels are top notch as is the food.

you take a chance with the weather between June and October but it tends to be a bit quieter then.

avoid Cancun in April when all the American college leavers invade for spring break.

They filmed a bit of it where I live in Bacup but the producers thought the town was to weird to be the main location............to many local people.

Does it have indicators. Always thought they were an optional extra on a Volvo.

  8. Weird - I did a Youtube playlist of favourite UK #1s year by year from 1976 to 2017. Why does "Bright Eyes" by Art Garfunkel remind me of the winter that happened the year it was #1 (78/9)? Whilst it's a very sad song, I just visualise lots of snow for some reason when listening to it.

    1. iand61

      iand61

Oliver's Army Elvis Costello and Tragedy Bee Gees always remind me of the depths of winter 1979

In the Ghetto by the other Elvis always brings back memories of sledging one snowy Christmas Eve.

oh the days when winter mean't more than just dark nights

IT certainly hit me when I turned on the news this morning.

so close to home, in a venue I have been been to many times in the past and it was aimed specifically at children.

went to work with a tear or two in my eyes.

  24. I went to Hebden Bridge today and did some trekking on the surrounding hills. After hours of sunshine I caught a line of hail showers wth snow mixed in. The hills turned white pretty quickly.

      iand61

Hebden is only about 8 miles from here and I've spent a lot of time walking around their myself.

spent a lot of drinking time there as well.

its just a shame that the Calder Valley has suffered so badly with flooding lately.
