  1. Has been a few lightning flashes out in the north sea according to the Sferics.
  2. I agree, it was the same in Peterlee, which just escaped the worst (or best) of the storm; still good to have had a summer storm for once.
  3. Can see the anvil of the storm now. The cloud is huge.
  4. Noticed it was a very narrow band that crossed me - almost the the tail end of what hit Newcastle
  5. Storm came over me - saw a few good flashes but thunder was great - still see odd flashes over the sea but too far away now to hear the thunder.
  6. No thunder heard yet but still very dark.
  7. Gone very dark over here, clouds going in different directions - very eerie
  8. Sky getting strangely eerie - lots of scud, etc and getting very dark to my west. I think I have heard very distant thunder
  9. Really dark to the north and northwest of me but bright directly to the south.
  10. So close yet so far at the moment. Getting a little bit closer.
  11. Looking pretty wet in Newcastle - http://www.tynebridgewebcam.com/south.htm The wind has just picked up here in Peterlee, getting quite breezy.
  12. Heavy showers still moving over Peterlee, no thunder heard though.
  13. Very foggy here, odd spells of rain falling as I speak
  14. I just got a soaking when leaving Murton near Seaham. Was a few rumbles of thunder but then just heavy rain. Has cleared up now though.
  15. Some big showers coming over East Durham, nothing on the lightning chart yet though.
  16. Was very black earlier this evening over Peterlee but no thunder, just a period of moderate rain.
  17. Very wet here. Looks like there are some heavy weather in the North Sea too.
  18. Some very good cloud formations at the moment up here in the North East. Quite a few anvils knocking about.
  19. Very good cloud formations at the moment lit be the setting sun, quite a few anvils and some heavy showers. No thunder heard though.
  20. Rain came down very heavy around 9.00am in Birmingham. Got on train to head north and hit sunshine not long out of Birmingham and then saw some wonderful cumulonimbus with heavy showers on my travel to Durham. The train I was on was terminating at Newcastle as all trains were cancelled from Newcastle northwards. Still very windy out there now.
  21. Had a period of heavy snow around lunch time. Turned to sleet, rain and hail showers which were very brief so ground is rather slushy now.
  22. Saw some lovely anvils in the sunset to the west of me; so looks like there has been something wintry falling over the Pennines.
  23. Have noticed that the TV weather has been given a revamp, it started yesterday. Sort of a mix between BBC and Sky News; seems to be a common trend to follow a similar style of map now. At least this weather map is green.
