  1. So near, yet so far… gutting to see the low just slide along the channel today, when we were the right side of marginal. Fingers crossed for February we’re due a decent dumping !
  2. Still keeping an eye on the low down south, although it does seem very unlikely now all models are siding with a southward shift, we have seen lows modelled shift north/south a further 50/75 miles during a nowcasting situation. This should come into view later tonight. If i was on the south coast, i'd still be feeling optimistic...
  3. Been feeling very seasonal today. Took the kids to the first Christmas outing seeing Santa, feeling very festive with frost lingering and feeling very cold. Not bad for the second day of winter! Freezing fog still lingering and the fire is on… onto the next chase
  4. Still holding out putting the central heating on, have lit the log burner for first time this evening, heating the house up lovely.
  5. Snowing heavy now in Benfleet, starting to lay on paths. Roofs and grass already covered. Any signs of transition in southend?
  6. Started off as rain in Benfleet but turned to snow around 5am. Nothing settling. Seems to be getting a little heavier now.
  7. This is going down to a nowcasting event as it pretty much always is with snow, I wouldn’t hang everything on every single model run. All eyes now on the radar watching the track..Good luck to all, il be driving to work near city airport around 5am watching with caution..and hopefully turning back around
  8. Heavy 50p size flakes falling settling on main roads too. Should be a good few hours of this to go too
  9. Looking at the radar, models have underplayed this low, would expect to see some disruptive snowfall this evening, wouldn’t be surprised to see an amber warning out once the band starts to pivot, we shall see.. exciting radar watching everyone !
  10. Interesting little feature sill popping up for our region on Sunday afternoon, one to keep an eye on
  11. Remember the April snow event well, I’m sure it was 2008 when I joined the forum, so a good 14 years ago now! That’s so scary, only feels like a couple of years back.
  12. Hi all, great to be back so early on in December with actual wintry weather and not looking for a brief cold spell at day 10! The artic air has made its self known today and looks like we could potentially be locking in the cold for a good period! With the cold in place and the surface temperatures tumbling, surely the snow will follow..
  13. Fingers crossed Icon is on the money. Out on its own at the moment ?? Not only would we then have less potentially damaging winds, most of the precipitation will be snow too. Can see this going down to a nowcast event when the low appears on the radar/satellite images, only a correction 100 miles north or south can make a huge difference with the winds/precipitation. More interesting weather for sure! But also quite worrying!
  14. Yep, will be keeping an eye out after the cold front crosses our region to see if we can spot a soggy snowflake! This is what it has come down to, winter 21/22
  15. It’s certainly good to be back talking of a potential cold spell in November. Last time…2010 ?? Nice to see the days ticking down on the models too and not just talking about day 10 like last winter! Bring on 21/22!️
  16. Nope not yet. Have got a log burner in the lounge and I’m itching to light it up for the first time this autumn but the thermostat is not going below 21c inside yet. Il wait till at-least 18c, also got a new boiler installed as my 30 year old boiler cost us a fortune last year in gas bills, so equally looking forward to testing that out. Sad ey!
  17. Had the shorts on yesterday in the garden with a nice few beers, now inside with the fire on watching the snow fall, madness
  18. I Have been really impressed by the cold spell over the last week, the dew points were incredibly low, which prevented scraping the car at 4:30am for work and today it felt mild at 3c was nice to drive home and have some window washers on the car working tonight. I’d love another cold spell before spring but would not be too disappointed if we start our mild warm up to spring and summer & hopefully return to a more normal Life this year ??.
  19. Made it home, was a treacherous drive from Rayleigh a127 to daws Heath, a few cars spun round on the A13. Take it easy out there this morning if you have to drive out! Going for a quick kip then getting back out there before it all goes! Love a Thames streamer when it comes together
