  1. Im far more optimistic for us over in Nottingham this morning, the potential snow event from the south was always a non starter for us as just to far north however tonights event looks more promising for us. I don't envisage anything spectacular but to wake up to a covering would be nice
  2. Bar the odd flake in the wind, been bone dry in Nottingham, I thought this front was suppose to Pivot & then sink Southeast. Another what could have been for Nottingham, precipitation appears to be completely missing us at the moment
  3. Cloudy here now in Notttingham but with flakes of snow in the air
  4. Its at times like this that I wish the Peak District had its own forum, its just so cruel on the rest of us LOL. Bright Sunshine here in Nottingham although definitely clouding over to the North of the City with rain, sleet or snow forecast for later, unfortunately I don't think it will be the latter for us, just too marginal, maybe higher areas of North Notts will get a decent covering though
  5. Hate these marginal setups, as on the one hand you could potentially get something special however equally you could just end up with a night of heavy rain with the salt in the wound 20 minutes of Wet Snow before it stops. Local weather forecaster hedging his bets here in Nottingham, forecasting rain but saying their is a chance of it turning to snow at lower levels, with a whopping 1cm on offer LOL
  6. Global warming almost certainly has something to do with it as I certainly buy into the milder wetter winters although not too sure about the drier hotter summers, still waiting on the latter LOL
  7. Our local BBC station now forecasting this as a all rain event for us, another non event that initially promised a lot a few days ago. I suppose at least we have seen lying snow in Nottingham albeit very brief a few weeks ago, feel for those who yet to even see a flake. Another so far poor winter from a cold & snow prospective and the clock is ticking
  8. Sadly aside the usual suspects eg Peak District I forsee this being mostly a rain event for the Midlands. Their maybe periods of Wet Snow for some but nothing major which is quite sad given the potential this event did have. However this is very similar to what happened on Boxing Day in Nottingham a couple of years ago when a forecast rain event on the day suddenly turned into several hours of heavy snow causing chaos so a pleasant surprise could be in store for some
  9. Well after moaning on Friday about not seeing a single flake yet, the weather gave us over in Nottingham a pleasant surprise Saturday night, woke up to probably 3-4 cms of lying snow, not a lot but enough to build a snowman & have fun with the kids. Had to to get up early to enjoy it though as mostly gone by the afternoon. Today all that is left is the piles of snow from melted snowmen. Just goes to show how the weather can spring a surprise, Saturday morning the weatherman on our local station was saying we would miss out with the snow getting no further east than Birmingham at best, by Saturday night he was proved wrong. Looking at the models every chance we will briefly go mild but I think something is brewing for next week for another attack from the Cold. Feel for those not yet to see anything snow wise but the game is far from over for this winter yet, plenty of opportunity still remains
  10. Still waiting to see our first snow flake here in Nottingham, not even had a Sleet shower yet. Our best chance of seeing snow in the current set up would appear to be frontal snow if the Atlantic tries to come in although after the mild wet mush we have had so far this winter I would settle for dry & frosty
  11. There is more to the East Midlands than Northampton. Here in Nottingham we had lying snow from Boxing Day till New years eve so a bit of sweeping generalisation to say the East Midlands has been lucky if it had any lying snow & then it lasted a few hours because clearly in Nottingham that wasn't the case at Xmas Not meant as pop but some parts of the East Midlands have done well this winter
  12. I must admit all this beast from the East talk is really over hyped the media even our local rag is getting in on the act, yes its cold but tempertures remaining between 3 & 6 degrees is surely just an average Feb not a beast from the east
  13. Very promising for the East Midlands snow wise in the next 48 hours, lets hope for heavy showers
  14. Thats the problem with having a region as vast as the Midlands, during the winter you could make a very good argument for splitting it into East & West threads. For the Wolf the winter so far has been grim for him but for us in Nottingham its actually not been that bad. We had the snow event on boxing day that left snow on the ground till New Years Eve & we have had a couple of other occassions with snow on the ground albeit not as good as Boxing Day. With the rest of feb still to come this winter so far for me hasn't been too bad
  15. At least another week of cold weather & hopefully those who have so far not done well out of this cold snap snow wise will get another chance. This time yesterday the met office were saying we would be lucky if we got a light snow flurry in Nottingham then we got hit with some heavy snow showers both during the day & last night. Still time although appreciate it can be frustrating
  16. I love how some in the thread of having a pop at the East Midlands, trust me Nottingham at least is not a favoured place for snow We just happened to have not done too bad this winter so far in comparison to other places in the Midlands. However I do feel your pain as nothing worse than having to listen to other people talk about snow when its nearly Feb & and you have still not seen any on the ground at least. Trust me we in Nottingham have often had to listen to it.
  17. well no polor low but a little more snow over night which has completely frozen turning roads even in the City Centre into Ice Sheets
  18. Not currently being forecast by the Met office for us, Is this something that has caught them out & is a developing situation ?
  19. Sun out now so covering may soon disappear
  20. I thought that was forecast to be rain/sleet with any snow confined to the hills
  21. Stopped here having put a slight covering down certainly grass is covered, going dark again north of the City so hopefully that was just the first in a line of beefy snow showers
  22. Yeap settling everywhere now, if this keeps up we will have a covering, massive flakes & still dark
  23. This is more like it massive flakes & very dark and settling
  24. Really heavy snow falling now in Nottingham City Centre, there is hope for us all
