  1. It's 4.2C here. Need that to drop. Evaporative cooling not too effective today due to the wind. Cold air will mix though in showers and turn them wintry. Too marginal here right now.
  2. What can I say? When I've had my weetabix I rival the best
  3. Looking very promising tomorrow according to the Short Range NMM model. Although I suspect that it could indeed be UNDERDOING the precipitation amounts here. As we've seen today, the Irish Sea is volatile. It's creating showers out of no where as it usually does, but mostly all of us were forecast to be dry around the 11:00hrs-14:00hrs. The NMM has a rather heavy feature moving across much of the region around 2pm today. Either a trough embedded into the flow, or a very organised cluster of showers. Given the intensity, this would be mostly all of snow away from the immediate coastal regions. As the colder air moves over the warm surface temperatures of the Irish Sea it'll create a hell of a lot of convection. Here's what's modelled to come into play 2hrs from this post: This looks in almost perfect synchronisation with the Met Office yellow warning issued today, and it's perfectly clear to understand why the warning was adjusted southwards. Further west like myself could unfortunately struggle because of those warmer SST's. Tomorrow is more interesting, IMBY anyway, with a streamer situation setting up. These can be absolute snow machines given the right position, and it looks like a fair few of them could float through the Cheshire gap, given the exact direction of the wind flow. But tomorrow has caught my eye more-so than today, which as of this moment has only delivered rain. That being said, I am currently in Liverpool in university, where it tends to be a couple of Celsius warmer due to the proximity to the River Mersey. Here's the streamer setup for tomorrow that could benefit the south of the region, I can't see the NMM being too far out with this prediction it's giving for tomorrow: It's giving sleet even a good distance from the coast. I'd suggest it'll be more like 5-10 miles from the coast and eastwards which receive the wintriness, with them intensifying further inland as they reach Manchester, preparing for uplift as the enter the area closest to The Pennines. A very good indicator on why the Met Office have Oldham down for a day of heavy snow tomorrow. Here's what expected, again by the NMM for tomorrow afternoon. It SCREAMS streamer/trough potential, and I have a feeling we will ALL do well from this. Uppers fantastic for good snow. Apart from Itsnowjoke. Itsnowjoke will have a nice, mild, dry, sunny, calm day
  4. I'm in the triangle of NOTHIN between both warnings. Too early for me to get angry. Illuminati confirmed!!!
  5. I'll post more when I'm at uni. Raining currently in Liverpool city centerTrying to enjoy my subway breakfast here!!!!!!
  6. Actually. The South of the North West of England is in the sweet spot for Tuesday & Wednesday with a *HIGH* risk of *SIGNIFICANT* snowfall.
  7. Disagree. The air is much colder this time around, we've seen -5's/-6's delivering a sleety mix, but anything below this is fantastic for snowfall. The frontal snowfall the other week only required -3's/-4's but obviously that's different. Away from the immediate coastline, it'll be snow.
  8. We don't though, TYPICALLY, we CAN be one of the snowiest! Get a cold NW'erly and we have our very own North Sea. Cornwall, Devon, S Wales, all worse off.
  9. Yeah I must of missed that, these SW'erly winds sure look balmy.
  10. Any showers that fall on Friday and Saturday will be of snow. The uppers are -6/-7C. The dewpoints are more supportive of snow on Friday, but let evaporative cooling do it's magic on Saturday and I feel you'll be pleasantly surprised.
  11. Dunno really. I'm 20-25 miles from the Coast, but I wouldn't be classed as neither coastal or inland haha!
  12. We've been here before this winter. Still 7-9 days away. Until it comes within 3-4 days, I won't be too excited. Although the best looking charts since 2010 that's for sure.
  13. Probably overdone. Can't see it being THAT widespread.
  14. Gonna be a covering for many before midnight. Showers now grouping to our SW. Those in the south of the region expect snow!
  15. Very heavy hail shower moving through here. Everywhere's white! Unexpected!
  16. This is amusing. Highlighted is every weather station in the UK currently reporting snow. Everywhere in the west apart from us and Cornwall are currently seeing snow haha!
  17. Well we had the precip for around half an hour or so. Surprised that it was completely of rain. Temperatures lowered quickly down to 2.7C as it approached. Dew points were good at or just below 0C, and the uppers were good too. Just that 2M temperature which was a little high initially which ensured that most of the lower ground got rain! It's not looking promising for showers either. The flow is too westerly for my location, the Welsh Mountains will eat them like a Sunday dinner before they reach here. So a day of sunny spells is likely here! North of say Preston looks to be in a good position to receive a covering today. Of course the usual rules apply, the closer you are to the coast, the more hail you're likely to get. Further inland you'll be getting snow instead. Fun fun fun.
  18. Looking poor for Tuesday on the NMM. Nothing for our region essentially, haha!
  19. There's two threads anyway for that. Keep the threads the way they are. No one would post in the general model thread if the cold aspect was taken elsewhere in the winter.
  20. Had nothing today! Dry all day. Snow Tuesday though. Fun!
  21. Not an official ice day temp has to stay at -0.1C or below all day
