  1. After 93 years! Wow. What a joke. The BBC are really starting to shape up. First Top Gear, loved by many. Now the Met Office? A necessity, a key to their forecasts. Not sure what's going on
  2. Just a topic of interest. Has anyone had any completely cloudless sunny days this summer? It seems that this summer has failed to produce any strong, UK-centred high pressure cells; and as a result there never has been a cap on the convective cloud bubbling up around 11am. The last time I can recall having a completely cloudless day was last autumn/winter. This summer has truly been shocking for sunshine, although it has been very dry. What's it been like where you are?
  3. Breezy, warm, sunny. Just over 20C. Not bad. Looks like remaining mostly sunny most of the afternoon. This breeze can get lost though.
  4. The first front moved through quite happily with nothing more than just a few spots of rain. Skies are now clearing for a couple of hours of summer sunshine to enjoy until a little rain moves in later. 18C and feeling warm To be perfectly honest, looking at the radar, I don't think we'll be getting much rain from front #2, it looks weak, it'll decay further as it hits the mountains. Those in the south will benefit from the rain shadow effect today. Especially so with the pressure not so low at the minute.
  5. 27.5C, not a cloud in the sky. This is what summer is about! That sun is absolutely scorching!
  6. 18.2C, sunny. No wind. Glorious. Some parts of London already over 21/22C. Could well hit 32C+ again today.
  7. This spell certainly is testing the capabilities of the new higher resolution GFS, which so far temperature wise isn't doing fantastically well.
  8. Cracking start to the day. Went hot yesterday for a time before rain arrived and knocked the temperature down over 10C Looks like sunshine is the theme for today. Long may this continue.
  9. I'd like to experience the 37C in London. But it's UK heat, not Mediterranean heat, so I imagine it would be so nasty. We've had 32C here twice this spell. That'll do me
  10. Will summer 2015 be remembered as having the hottest July temperature ever? Or can a plume reload go one step further and go for gold and challenge the all time record?!
  11. Starting to move away from peak heating now with the maxima usually taking place at around 1600-1700hrs. It needs to get a move on
  12. I can see a 40&50C on that thermometer, so I'm sure it can go up another 18C or so
  13. 36C at Heathrow. 32C here. I've experienced 42C in Mijas. But 36C of UK heat? No ta
  14. Put that into perspective BBC Weather Twitter reported Heathrow 35.3C 16 mins ago Met office Twitter reported Heathrow at 35.8C 8 minutes ago Half a degree in 8 minutes? Bye bye record....
  15. Jesus. If this keeps up, both records are under threat. It's just over 30C here in the sunny north west. That's just about enough for me
  16. How are you holding on to the sun?! Satellite shows almost all of Southern NW England under cloudcover
  17. Give it another hour. Solar noon is around when it'll burn most off. It's starting to break here now with sunny spells. I have faith yet! Take it! My tan is in need of another top up
  18. If that cloud stays away, I think the English record will go today, 34.1C with 5 hours of heating left to go? It's a given..
  19. Looking at sat24, it's here for the day, how unfortunate. The regional record would of been smashed today too
  20. 28.2C and overcast unfortunately. I think that's put a lid on any convection. Hopefully the sun will burn it off before lunch time
