  1. A band of showers has formed just over the IOM, current trajectory takes it around Merseyside through to Cheshire in the next few hours. How far they can penetrate remains to be seen. This northerly air is REALLY dry.
  2. Just checked tonight’s text forecast from Met Office. Merseyside & Cheshire specifically mentioned for some snow showers later.
  3. Already -2.3C. Met office has temperatures rising after 9pm due to W’erly element to the wind. Shame really. Was hoping for a proper free fall tonight. Could be some light showers of snow later then I suppose.
  4. Temps were still falling here also before I left for the school run. That radar picture is gutting from a southerner point of view, but they always seem to get at least one significant snow event each winter. I’m sure they’ll get one.
  5. Hi i am Backtrack's little boy who is very interested in the weather i have went outside across the field and the snow was really deep we went with our two husky dogs i hope it snows before it gets mild so i can go out on the snow from caleb age 6
  6. Temp already on the way back down. We did touch 4C briefly. Lots of snow still around. The ground was really cold after the frosts the last couple of nights, that’s really helping to insulate it. No sunshine as it’s cloudy. I’m not too sure about precipitation tonight. Sneaking suspicion it’ll probably be clear and colder than forecasts. Will see a -10C somewhere in the region over the snow fields in the next couple of nights. The likelihood it’ll be around Sharp or Buxton somewhere, but I think the snowier sub-urban areas could come close too!
  7. We had another moderate snow shower a minute ago. Reversed some damage from the melt. I think it’ll stick around on the grass today.
  8. We don’t want it, pretty much anything past this point is rain for us. The colder 850s are briefly moving away till around midnight tonight
  9. Temp 0.7C. Stay there please. If the snow makes it past today, it’s here till Friday
  10. Could do with some cloud to put a lid on the temperatures and the thaw. Met office has us climbing to 5C today. Enough to take the lot away!
  11. Easy couple of inches here. Hoping it can cling onto the right side of marginal for a couple hours
  12. Looks like a trough moving through N Ireland at the moment. Wonder if it’ll reach here?
  13. Snow has started here. Can’t see anything turning to rain, higher 850s tomorrow afternoon
  14. -2.8C with precipitation literally on the doorstep from the Irish Sea. Now that’s unheard of around these parts.
  15. -3C here already. Met has us at 1C now, only 4C wrong, Not too shabby for the UK's finest.
  16. We’ve been here before. We all know this setup doesn’t produce snow away from higher ground. Don’t be fooled
  17. A dusting of graupel everywhere this morning. Average temp over 3 sensors is -1.7C so way colder than forecast. Lovely sunny start. It’s the 850 temperatures which aren’t productive, we could well end up with a spell of icy rain. 2m temps look fine probably sub-zero when PPN moves across
  18. Never underestimate the power of the Irish Sea. If there’s any W’erly element to that wind direction, there’s always the massive risk of marginality near coastal areas. It’s the reason why Liverpool is one of the least-snowy cities in N England Mild air modification. The headache of the NW
  19. Hasn’t the GFS had terrible verification stats recently? Or perhaps I’m delusional and clutching at straws because I’d like some weather that actually represents the season we’re supposed to be ‘enjoying’
  20. That’s a 2/300 mile difference at 3 days out. Shows the massive uncertainty at the minute
  21. Coming from a front rather than showers. Probably sucking the energy from potential shower activity. The models aren’t great in general for anything significant away from the far N of Scotland and far S of England if you ask me. Good background signals for something building again toward the end of the month. But I’m bored of background signals now. It’s the same every year.
