  1. Clear skies across Blackpool but a gusty wind now and then. Nice webcam image of the morning at Metfy. 7.9oC 73% Humidity 3.4 Dew Point Wind, WSW 15.2 gusting 23.4mph Pressure 29.36in <
  2. Maybe we should have a Jo vs Eno thread. (Professional basis of comparison.) Back to the topic: Game delay due to weather... Live Text Commentary28:39 Delay in match (Manchester United). 28:30 Corner, Manchester United. Conceded by Marc Wilson. 24:49 Attempt saved. Tom Cleverley (Manchester United) right footed shot from the right side of the box is saved in the centre of the goal...
  3. Wow. Massive downburst of hail and rain just now with huge gusts. No sky tv and lights flickering. Mad considering I'm in south shore blackpool! Whats this all about. Don't mind more though.
  4. I'm sure we had a similar event in the 90's then turned cooler as I'm looking for a repeat for New Years eve also, again to compare. Thank you for the links.
  5. Where can I find historic weather models... I want to compare this Christmas with 1995.
  6. The christmas forecast is out... metfy.info just thought I'd let you all know.
  7. Fairly bad, and Central areas were flooded and the road to Glasson Dock was just an extention to the Irish Sea! Metfy have updated Blackpool's Dec forecast now.
  8. Think I must be the only one on here looking for Paul Bartlett. And what I see looks good. Especially round 15th / 16th. (Sorry to go against the grain, but I feel I must stand up for my rights!)
  9. My weather station alarm going off at 60mph gusts near Blackpool prom. Peek expected about 10am but it's always after peek it seems worse. Shed roof damaged also. Metfy updating the forecast too. Might nip out with camera. Thoughts to anyone who really suffer in these conditions especially flooding.
  10. Metfy are on it also... http://www.metfy.info/ they have also closed the flood gates at Little Bispham.
  11. As regards the models this was posted not long back and seems inline with the current theme (re post if needs be). http://www.metfy.info/news--forecasts.html look for the December forecast. Great detailed Winter forecast from NW, thankyou.
  12. For Blackpool, (and I champion) metfy have put a forecast out for the rest of the month and downgraded a white Christmas.
  13. That would filter through as a wet and windy Christmas eve.
  14. Metfy are hinting at sleet / snow for the Fylde (Blackpool). http://www.metfy.info/#!Rain-Sleet-then-possible-Snow/c23qc/3FAE1F6A-F76B-458C-81E8-8983CF07A9EB
  15. I hate to go against the grain but I'd prefer a good gale storm or wonderful warm sunshine. The british media and some forecasting services over cook it, still it is nice to see my kids get excited about it... ..."Right, wheres that low going to now?"
  16. The MetOffice on the 5 day symbol (for Blackpool) have increased the max gust at 0:00hrs from 49mph to 56mph.
  17. Looks like metfy are on it now... Gale Warning - Sunday 3rd November
  18. You cant beat a good fax chart, still prefer them over anything especially like the one above from Radiohead. I'd frame them around the house off the eventful ones, if my wife would let me.
  19. 'Vantage Weather Services' to tell me there are two now? Maybe Madden and Powell send each other Dickensian Christmas cards of ye olde blizzard of chuff knows when! It does seem that these troughs are moving over Norway then Siberia into the Far North over Greenland thus being picked up as a multiple generation system into the Atlantic to once again scoot our way. Any once else see this, or is that how this weather rolls anyways?
  20. The website is not very professional - no logo, very adventurous forecasting and highly expensive for his opinion. No explanation to his background or current sources. I don't know if I'm the first to mention this but he's alienating himself from the general weather community. Weather is to be enjoyed as it's free, not perverted. Remove if you so wish.
  21. Looks like we're in for more in November, just read this blog for 11th November. If we are to believe these computers as they have do a grand job so far.
  22. Metfy have posted a blog on next weekend. Obviously more of a feature for the Irish Sea communities this time. Initial thoughts for me are this could be worse than just recent as regards impact area. Like parts of the Channel, areas of the Irish Sea magnify the speed just before it crosses land. It feels we always get a repeat a week later of any extreme weather event that I've noticed over the years. Once upon a time we used to get regular windy systems in our region every year especially in the 80's and 90's of gusts up to 70/80mph. Now it's either because I'm older or times have changed but there seems to be more 'spice' added to the forecasts. Still non the less being able to learn more about these systems especially sooner is a privilege. Finally, my sincere thoughts go out to those who suffered last night and I hope thats the last we hear of this for a while. It takes the excitement out of these events when people, especially children are hurt.
  23. So am I right in saying this is the transition period where normal or less active weather themes are more expected?
  24. Seem very quiet outside (BLACKPOOL). Just took this pic of a Squall Line over us about 15mins back - no rain or hail mind. http://www.facebook.com/BlackpoolWeather http://www.blackpoolweather.info/
