Seen a flash of lightning and heard a good few rumbles of thunder, but the storm only clipped us slightly!
another area of thundery rain moving up the east Highland coast now, which looks a little more promising! -
A line of thundery rain, with a good bit of lightning in it across Sutherland area of the Highlands just now and moving NE! So hopefully we get it too, since we missed out on all the thunderstorm activity in the Scottish Highlands last night!

Look like some storms to far North for me looking at the ATD
Hearing from a few people I know thats there's some thunderstorms between Inverness and Helsmdale! Hoping they move a little further up into here in Caithness!

some impressive towering clouds coming off the north sea here, just dulled right down but no rain or thunder at all! still hopeful yet we might get a thundery shower yet today!!

been quite an evening here! had rain, hail, thunder and lightning and now winds fairly gusty!

expecting it to be breezy up here for a time, at the start of tonight gusts to 60mph!

a lot of rain here today, had a couple of hours of fairly heavy rain! winds gusting to around 45mph so not bad at all but met office have a yellow warning for us in caithness and orkney for this afternoon: "The public should be aware of the risk of disruption as North to northwesterly winds increase on Tuesday afternoon, reaching severe gale or storm force for a time" wasnt expecting that!

You shouldn't be in the worse area affected but you can expect gusts around 65mph to 75mph in the afternoon.

what is the current track of the storm likely to be? anyone know how bad it will be for us in the far nothern areas for the highlands?

gusted to around 65mph here for a bit earlier, i dont get why netweather didnt warn about the wind for christmas day, but met office did and it wasnt that bad here, but netweather have a wind warning for us now for today and the met office dont, they are just saying "occasionally severe gales"! lol

dont know what its gusting to outside but its extremely wild! keep losing power! though im enjoying it haha

our local weather woman reckons we will get gusts of upto 85mph by around lunchtime tomorrow coming from the SW before easing down for a bit by dinner time as the centre passes over us and then it will quickly turn northerly and possibility of gusts reaching 100mph until around midnight and then wind changes to NW and gusts still over 80mph and easing down slowly during friday! so why havent the met got a red warning for us in the far north?

just seen the bbc weather forecast, early warning for severe gales/storm force winds for the far north of scotland, wasnt expecting that!

gust of 82mph at Wick Airport this morning! one of the windiest places overnight, was fairly wild, and quite a bit of damage done!

barely slept with the noise of the wind, gusts up to over 70mph here now!

going to be a wild night here by the looks of its, gusts of 80mph forecasted for here!

yeah we had quite heavy hail an hour ago and a few flashes of lightning afterwards!

interesting period of weather coming, does anyone know how bad it will be here in caithness/far northern mainland, local weather woman isnt expecting anything more than gusts of 55mph by STV weather forecast has the shaded area of gusts to 60-80mph for us to and going by the talk on here too, anyone know? this is the kind of weather i love lol

actually so gutted right now!, nothing more than a typical breezy day here in the far north highlands tomorrow, missing all the wind thanks to the movement of the storm to the south a little

complete disappointment for us here in the far north highlands by the sounds of it now, met office saying highest gust of 30mph here! and it was us meant to be seeing the 80mph, was looking forward to a good storm lol

In Edinburgh and its been well over 2 hours of solid flashes every second and rumbles and intense rain. Never seen anything like it and no sign of coming to an end yet
