  1. There's a covering of snow/ dusting here this morning, which is more than we've had since March 2013, so that's canny I guess. It would be nice to get a bit more over the weekend or into next week, I won't hold my breath though if it stays North-Westerly
  2. Don't even get me started on storms hahah, although 2012 I can confirm it is now snowing in Jarrow, wind has picked up loads! (apparently winging does work)
  3. The 6 Years I've been on this forum I always thought the term 'snow-shield' was a joke, showers going south and now passing north... someone has it in for us Tynesiders
  4. It's mental how a bit of weather can cause such an irrational hatred of some hills
  5. Still struggling to catch anything in Tyne and Wear, Durham area seems best placed in the flow. Hopefully we can get in on the action later
  6. With the cure being a covering of snow, not too much to ask!
  7. That's just never going to happen hahah, it's too addictive! Besides if we looked away now there'd be a monster shower appearing out of thin air and we'd miss it
  8. That last band of showers just hit a brick wall, the northern half died and a small bit survived towards Durham. Going to be a bit of a wait before more showers arrive looking at that gap
  9. Hahaha it's the multiple memories from school of hoping to have snowball fights and go sledging and seeing it fall onto wet ground, it still gets me now :')
  10. Hopefully, I'm just still a bit scarred off last week, with it snowing into puddles, but I guess that was under different circumstances
  11. Didn't expect it this early at all, the sun is back out now really want it to dry up so that later showers have the chance to stick, its still very wet off earlier
  12. Met Office/BBC are forecasting a wet start to the day tomorrow, and a drier interlude before light snow, heavy at times after 5pm tomorrow, and intermittently through the night. This is of course on their 5 day forecast, but it has been consistently shown as at least light snow, and if there is a drying up period after the wet start this could be promising. Conditions look very favourable if we get the precipitation, with below 0 dewpoints shown from the earlier 6z GFS, marginality isn't an issue, it's just hoping we get some sort of organisation towards us of precipitation.
  13. I think we're in the wrong North East of a country tonight 2-3ft of snow in one storm is mental however
  14. Just for fun, look at this beast! I often think what state we'd be left in if some of these mental charts ever verified
  15. Well with nothing much being made of tonight/ tomorrow, this has been a really disappointing 'cold spell', especially for areas similar to mine which have been too near the coast. It's reminded me off some of the winters pre-09, where there's been talk of snow and then all that's happened is its sleeted/wet snowed into puddles. Hopefully we get something better for low levels in our region before the winter is out, a proper North Easterly/ Easterly is sorely missed.
  16. Snowing into puddles here, such a waste!
  17. Not exactly the nicest out there today, mixture of heavy sleet-wet snow showers and just drove through a hail shower. Bit of everything really cant' call it boring, just wish it was that little bit colder
  18. The sleet has turned to snow here in Jarrow
  19. My uni mate who lives near central Newcastle has lying snow and I have nowt... I give up hahaha
  20. BBC 6-10 Forecast shows a blob of white moving south on Sunday, http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/feeds/30842988 Looks a bit hit and miss to be honest, and going by how often the forecast changes the BBC weather app on my phone its hard not to be sceptical, Taking it literally Sunday morning could be an alright shout
  21. Most probably, though the wind direction is coming from on-shore so this will limit the moderating effect hopefully.
  22. Its starting to look slightly worrying isn't it haha, we need some upgrades! I thought last night we'd still get at least a very short lived period of snow showers from the North Sea next week that would give us some joy but this seems to be disappearing from the models. I still wouldn't write off Sunday though.
  23. After some downgrades generally on the 12z runs, the 18z GFS is again the best of the day for our region, at least in terms of the easterly. We even get into some slider action, although this introduces a nasty warm sector which in low lying coastal areas would turn the event into a washout. A very fluid situation remaining for next week it seems, though it's fair to say at this point it will definitely be cold, and we will get some sort of easterly as the low sinks.
