  1. It turned out okay in the end, still cool & breezy with some light showers across the Eastern Moors when I was having a short wander around the Bronze-Age relics at Barbrook but this Western side of the Peak District has gotten more of the sunshine for the day.
  2. A bit cloudier than forecast but at least it's remaining dry this side of the Pennines for the next few days, although it's now back to feeling bitterly cold under the overcast skies in the NEly wind. Hoping that some-time over the next few weeks the first of the Spanish Plume's brings some warmer temps and thunderstorm potential.
  3. Eejits were spotted walking out across the active lava-field and recent lava flows today as caught on Isak's livestream (2:13:10) The mind just boggles.
  4. It's a lot better outside today than was originally forecast with a high of 13'c, and thankfully the cold winds from the north have somewhat abated.
  5. This was yesterday's update so it's somewhat outdated, but gives some good prehistorical & recorded data about Ruang.
  6. It was quite a pleasant morning to be had whilst having a bimble up to Middleton Top & Minninglow although it's still bitterly cold out in the wind, but at least there's some strength to the sun which immediately lifts the temperatures whilst in sheltered spots. Back to rain and showers now.. typical.
  7. To my East is blue skies, to the West is the ever imposing TCu showers making their way southwards across Cheshire. The Cat & Fiddle webcam has some good views across the plain with the rain-train in full steam.
  8. A few flashes of lightning was seen from here as that thundery shower moved SEwards from Glossop and over into the Hope Valley, barely audible thunder as the PPN rates must have been crazy within that central core and some gusty windspeeds here on the western outer-inflow.
  9. I thought I heard thunder this morning as there was just the one deep rumble at 6am'ish although it was bin collection today and I couldn't tell if it was that, a bin being blown over, or the weather. The timing seems right however as the squall-line passed overhead not too long after it brought torrential rain with embedded hail and some squally gusts. I've heard there's a wind warning issued for later on this evening into tonight? which no doubt means more interrupted sleep.
  10. It's not quite warm enough today for 'shorts and t-shirt' but even in a jumper it's been nice sat outside on the laptop with intermittent sunshine before the evening rain arrives. A nice respite from the last few weeks with it feeling like the summer temps aren't too far away.
  11. I made my way up to Five Wells near Taddington whilst we had 2 hours of sunshine this early morning, a shame yet another weather system is almost at the doorstep to give rain for the rest of the day. So much for the predictions made 10 years ago that due to 'climate change' the central UK will become more sub-Sahara by each year
  12. The shadow of the Moon was seen from the ISS as it was over the NE seaboard and the US+Canada, starting at 19:33
  13. United States Visible Satellite | Satellite Maps | Weather Underground WWW.WUNDERGROUND.COM
  14. NSF has 42 camera set-up for today's Eclipse, some in areas of Partiality but many under Totality.
  15. Quite the downpour here although there's been no lightning activity associated with it, maybe a second round before midnight according to the Radar.
