  1. Thank God. If we had just had a 1mm we would have been seriously screwed. I feel lucky today!
  2. Thanks for all the support guys. Its brightened up outside so I'm hoping that its done and we're safe now =D
  3. Thank guys! Phoned the council they said they are rushed off their feet I said nae bother XD We've just packed under the door with some more old clothes and towels to try and stop it invading the flat and tried to build a wee wall at the top of the fire escape to stop it coming down. Just pray it holds out for us.
  4. We;re now starting to flood. Waters coming in the back door. We've just pulled put every towel we have and stuffed it around the door to hold it off a while but I don't know how long its going to last. Anyone got any suggestions?
  5. Looks like storm 3 is about to slam Edinburgh. Just started raining here again. *bites nails* if I disappear and stop posting we've flooded and had to bail.
  6. BUGGER! At least the Camera is fully charged. I'm seriously hoping I don't get hammered again I don't think we can take it the water will be in the flat if it rains any more. I wish I could see more of the lighting etc but being stuck in the basement is doing nothing for me at the moment. I can't go out and find somewhere to watch it from in case the flat floods. Bricking it right now.
  7. Mee too! The Castle also got hit by lighting as well as large areas of the city being hit by serious Flash flooding again. Large areas of Morningside, Oxgangs, Newington and Cameron Toll are being hit by flash flooding and large chunks of Marchmont and Bruntsfeild have lose power.
  8. Here are the photos I took, I live in a basement and can't see much so not many storm pictures but more the flooding on our little back yard which was dry prior to the storm hitting. This is the result of just 10 minutes of rainfall. I did take a video of it all but its like 12 mins long and has me and my flatmate swearing like idiots on it trying to run around and stop the water coming in to the flat O_O I'll edit it at some point and upload it.
  9. building on Leith Walk has taken a lighting strike. Emergency services EVERYWHERE
  10. Absolutely hammering it down in Edinburgh. Our kitchen is starting to flood now. HAd to stuff towels under the back door to try and stop it coming in. Will upload photos and vids in a few.
  11. Nothing in Edinburgh at the moment either its all either side swept us or missed us which is good because the city can't take any more downpours its flooded enough as it is. The ones we had yesterday were about the size of marbles and the bus window was bowing with the intensity of them. Its really scary imaging being in something like that with hail even bigger, I always thought people were being OTT about hail but now I see how people can get killed easily by that stuff.
  12. I thought they had though it was me being paranoid XD friend in Falkirk says the rain is coming down insanely there and her streets flooding. Reports of flash flooding coming in from Falkirk and Polmont.
  13. Flash flood in Gorgie Road at Saughton park Edinburgh., water coming out manhole covers, junction under water! Going to be another busy day.
  14. I was the same. I was on my way back from Cupar and we were driving across the Forth Road Bridge and lighting hit it as we were driving across I literally was like "ZOMYFGOD STORMS LET ME AT THEM!" and Spent the next hour it took us to get in to the city center explaing and teaching my flatmate how it all worked and then we got caught trying to get back to our flat in all the flooding chaos. I'm just hoping anything that comes through today isn't as high precip because the city just wont be able to take it.
  15. I've gone five years without storms and then suddenly two in two days! Hell yes. Ugh I don't even have my camera any more to go take photos fuuuuuuuu I hate living in this basement flat I can't see ANYTHING
  16. Jesus! We've got flooding in Newington as well. The Meadows is a no go zone. Don't even try it the roads are under by about 3 inches and some paths through the park are under a foot of wate. Craighouse, Craglockart, and Kings Building campuses are all shut due to flooding. Morningside has been badly hit. There were cars floating down the street!
  17. We got HAMMERED in Edinburgh. Two big storms form about 2.30pm onwards. We were on our way back from Cupar and was coming across the Forth Road Bridge and BANG telephone boxing thing got hit as we were driving across it. Since then onwards its been constant rumbling. Not much lightning cloud to ground but big flashes every so often. The rain and the hail has been the big issue. Edinburgh came to a complete standstill it took us an hour to get along princes street on the bus! Pea sized hail hammering down, rain so strong cars were having to pull over because you just couldn't see a damned thing. Most of the roads in the city center are at least two inches deep in rain and turned in to a torrent of water. Also what may have been a funnel cloud at about 2.40pm over the Davison Mains area of the city but I couldn't see properly on the bus. All in all. Epic freaking day. Was so not expecting it as well. Five years nearly and two storms in three days. Happy as freaking larry.
  18. Epic storm in Cupar in Fife. Good solid hour. Saw no lighting but the thunder was some of the loudest I've heard ever and the rain was just crazy as hell. Was like someone just threw an ocean on us.
  19. I love how the sun comes out and summer shows a hint of returning just as I am about to leave for California. Typical Other than that it feels very humid in Edinburgh today same as yesterday, thinking we might have a wee heavy downpour later.
  20. I've never seen it but my big sister has. It was back in the 90s and she used to work in a cafe as a waitress and there was this very intense thunderstorm and she was making someone a cup of tea looked up and there it was. She said it was yellowish green and about the size of a tennis ball and she legged it the hell out of there crying - well she was seventeen at the time. Anyway there was a loud bang, all the electrics went out and the power to the whole building went off. It looks like it hit the metal hood covering the cooker and shorted out all the electrics in the building. They had to spend a week replacing all the appliances in the kitchen because everything was messed up.
  21. Lurking but not posting. Too busy watching the live stream. Jeez I can't even being to think how scary this must be, its not just little its freaking huge. Two fatalities apparently already and someone critical from Piedmont I think.
  22. Ta thank you =D hopefully I'll get to go to America next week.
  23. Anyone know whats going on scientifically with the volcano at the moment / has links to places that do. All I get is press coverage with everything being 'oh my god its last year all over again' and I'd rather not deal with their bullcrap at the moment.
  24. I'd pretty much say with 100% certainty this would be classed as a European Windstorm.
