    Wind building here now. Reports coming in on twitter from road policing units about trees down.

    Stopped raining here in Brighton, can even see some blue in the sky!!

    Was out driving when the squall hit. Torrential sideways rain and very strong gusts. Car was being hit small bits of tree being tossed around. Quite scary!

    Epic downpour here in Brighton, couldn't see more than a few feet out the window. Raining steadily now, felt quite warm when I went outside before the downpour.

    Took a drive out to the old first at Shoreham. Parked up in the car park overlooking the harbour - watching the boats fight the huge swells on their way out. Then to my surprise I see a guy canoe into the harbour entrance returning from being out on the open water. Insane!!

    Just been caught out in ths squall in Brighton. Was walking through the marina and it was insanely windy with piercing hail. Large group of photographers all rancor cover.

    Really nasty here now, everyone else has gone home. Just about to head back myself. Building i am in has already lost some scaffolding.

    Morning all, Shoreham beach weather station has recorded just over 50mph gust in the last hour. Certainly gusty here at work (Brighton) and the wind is howling round the building. I'm right on top of a hill and south facing - not looking forward to later and hope to be out of here before it really gets going!

    Morning all, A low of -2.6c in Deepest darkest Burgess Hill last night. Bit of a shock to the system having to scrape the windscreen this morning!
