  1. Shower to my north west now. It's really intensified in the last few moments and gone very dark towards north west London. Two CG's and one rumble of thunder.
  2. Storms seem to be passing either side of me here in SE24. There's currently one a few miles to my west with intermittent lightning. Heathrow bound planes flying below it.
  3. Hammering it down now in Camden. Rumbles of thunder heard.
  4. Lots of convection and some congestus cloud seen here in NW1 when I popped out for a coffee 20 mins ago. Even had a few spots of splodgy rain. Safe to say I reckon we'll being getting a thunderstorm here this afternoon seeing what's kicking off in Essex right now.
  5. Lightning in just about every direction here in SE24. Seems to have intensified in the last few moments. Barely any rain though. Cannot sleep. Ugh!
  6. Rumbles and lightning seen here in SE24 to my SW (and while I was at Sainsbury's in Dulwich). Sky's getting darker too. And it's now oppressively humid.
  7. Lightning is a lot more visible here now (to my SW - it seems to be intensifying) and the clouds look more menacing now (to my NW) but that may just be outflow from the anvil tops.
  8. Seeing distant flashes from these storms to my SW now. Splodgy rain just now but it seems to have stopped.
  9. Just saw a couple of faint flashes to my west here in Herne Hill (SE24). I guess that was from the Oxford cell.
  10. Some nice lightning from today's beast storm captured at the Pinkpop festival in Heerlen, The Netherlands... "Onweer" means "Thunderstorm".
  11. Dutch radio/TV presenter Michiel Veenstra presenting during that mega thunderstorm earlier at the Pinkpop festival in Heerlen, NL (not far from Aachen).
  12. Crikey. Poor cyclists being blown about in the wind. Very frequent lightning in that storm too!
  13. Distant flashes observed here in SE24. Absolutely caning it down at Downing Street on the news just now. Bone dry here though. (That won't last long I reckon). :-)
  14. Third storm of the evening now rolling over Usk. Infrequent LOUD lightning/thunder but steady rain. Storms are like buses....
  15. After being woken up by thunder in London, I'm now currently sat under a thunderstorm in Usk (NP15) SE Wales. We got some LOUD rumbles and flashes. Lots of wonderful cloud structures observed on the drive down the M4. Convection clear to see along the trough now heading up through Western England. :-)
  16. Under a moderate shower here now. Looks a bit menacing to my SSW but to my west it's pink skies and a lovely sunset. No thunder heard but then it's so bloody noisy in my neighbourhood that you wouldn't really know it.
  17. Poor buggers have been weaving between the storm clouds all evening (I live right under the Heathrow approach). Bet the views have been great though.
  18. Seen about 3 bolts from that one - two IC and one CG (would probably get a nice light show if it was dark). I think I could also see some rotation. There's a slightly weaker cell just behind it to my SW. Doesn't seem to be producing much rain but I think that one will pass much closer by me.
  19. Blustery and sunny here in SE24 but I can see that nice big cell a few miles away over NW/W London from my place right now. Just saw some fork lightning from it just now. Seems to be tracking NNE.
  20. This evening an Air India plane had to do a U-Turn over the North Sea and head back to Heathrow due to being struck by lightning apparently: https://twitter.com/Mr_Plane_Boy/statuses/361254422367584257
  21. Saw about 5 flashes on my in to work this evening (SE24 to NW1 between 7:45 and 8:30). One fantastic IC crawler while driving through Walworth and another similar while driving over Waterloo Bridge. Moderate rain and humid as hell! Glad to be sat at my AC desk now.
  22. Nice light show from that MCS currently in Paris: http://www.earthcam.com/france/paris/ Lightning every few seconds now.
  23. Something is currently developing just over South London (near Brixton/Herne Hill/Loughborough Junction). It seems to be shifting north now. Not sure whether this one will produce anything other than heavy rain but one to watch. Amazing cloudscapes this morning. I can see blue sky and I can see building cumulus congestus to my immediate north west through the gaps in the merkiness. :-)
