  1. Another newspaper - same story - http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/11295561.VIDEO___Mini_tornado__caught_on_camera_in_Barrowford/
  2. I think this newspaper has taken things a little too far: http://www.burnleyexpress.net/news/weird/video-tornado-hits-barrowford-1-6689705
  3. Some massive booms and continuous what only can be described as firework crackling like noises never appeared last night either. Saying that I saw no flashes, very strange. Unless they Fred Dibnah'd Didcot Power Station last night, I'd assumed it was storm related.
  4. Not as confusing as calculating QFE as a higher pressure than QNH in the Caspian Sea for landing choppers due to the local Baltic Datum being approximately 28m higher than the current water level of the Caspian.
  5. Now that is what you call a storm, shame there is no sound.
  6. I'm sure it must be thunder unless a fireworks factory is on fire in the middle of the fields around me (South East Oxfordshire) Loud boom like noises I've never heard in any thunderstorm before, explosion like, can't see any flashes. Then inbetween continuous crackles of thunder like fireworks. Nothing on the met office data and the rain band has almost passed to the north, very surprising.
  7. Sferics from this storm don't seem to be being reported by the metoffice system (assuming you are in Chatham, Kent)
  8. Development of a few cells in Yorkshire, Derbyshire showing quite clearly on the 1800 and 1815 radars. Worth keeping an eye on further development in this region.
  9. Will let you know if kicks off on its western end then
  10. That band has stretched to the main rain area over the SW and with confirmed sferics in the last 15 minutes. First thunderstorm of the evening as the channel stuff not quite arrived yet?
  11. Summer Sun, reduction in intensity to be expected, theoretically should increase again on landfall. Also look like that line of heavy rain near Milton Keynes is growing and extending towards the line extending from the main area of rain over Oxfordshire and into Wiltshire. Rain continues in South Oxfordshire with increased winds at times gusty,
  12. Think that is all for here, rain radar indicating heavy downpours to the north in Oxford extending in a line up towards Banbury, the northern part of this being where the thunder is at.
  13. Rumbles of thunder again increasing in SW Oxfordshire with forks of lightning to the west (cannot confirm whether IC or CG). Many 'thunderflies' congregating above the hedges and flocks of birds hurriedly moving east
  14. 6.30 forecast http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0379yvl/BBC_News_at_Six_22_07_2013/ Fast forward to 27:00
  15. Presumably this is the 6pm forecast - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23361845 Few rumbles of thunder and a shower in South-West Oxfordshire about 10 minutes ago. Opened up all the windows to let some cooler air in.
  16. Snow reported at Blackpool Airport which is always a good sign for the north west.
  17. Isolated cells built into a large line stretching from Barrow down to Nottingham. Had to switch to terrestrial tv signals it was that bad in Burnley. Should make Granada Reports interesting, Fred'll be wet through.
  18. Torrential Rain and Thunderstorm in Burnley, isolated cells now built into a line heading south
  19. Satellite imagery and that video of the tornado suggests the storm that went through Central England was a supercell. There was a small cell that went through the N/E area around 2-3pm but what is going through now, this band of rain/storms is a trough. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/europe/surface_pressure.html http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/guide/key.html#pressure
  20. More on this: http://www.itv.com/n...n-lincolnshire/ Lincolnshire is like tornado alley at the moment http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2165525/Powerful-tornado-sucks-caravan-air-terrified-security-guard-inside-wreaks-havoc-sleepy-village.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
  21. Looks like the same areas as last Friday have been flooded again: http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/blackburn/9788915.GALLERY__More_flooding_in_East_Lancashire/ Alza - this system is basically moving north east over the erm north east so it's not going to stop until it passes through, replay the last few hours to see what I mean. http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=radar;sess=
