After last night I'm not sure I can stay awake to see the outcome.

just a bit further up at lodgemoorMost likely irrelevant however the GFS 12 shifts the precipitation westwards, possibly hitting the North Midlands and Western areas of South and West Yorkshire...
Resolution means i wouldn't place much faith in such occurrence, however, highlights some potential interest for tonight!
Fantastic pictures! Which part of Sheffield you in? Have relatives over in Fulwood, can imagine it is bad that end

What a blinding 24h.. I was so excited last night I couldn't sleep! I was up every few hours peeping out of the window and radar watching. Kid's got a snowday, and that streamer this morning gave us a right dumping over 10 inch up here.. best snow event so far. ( tried to upload a piccy..Apologies if it's not right)

THUNDER SNOW woohoo! First time
I heard that too! And I'm sure I saw a flash of lightning. I wasn't sure at first but you've just confirmed it

Had quite a few showers here, only a light cover so far..needs some big fat flakes,it's far too powdery for my liking
-
Hope the radar doesn't make disappointing viewing, I'm quite looking forward to an evening of snow watching! Hopefully it'll be a snowday at school tomorrow and I can play snowball with the kids. *crossing fingers*
-
Gusty here! Blowing all the snow away my anemometer recorded 38mph a short while ago. Hopefully there will be some quality snowfall later
-
Good grief! The excitement is killing me..It's going to be so hard to sleep tonight, knowing that I have a day of radar watching and expectation of snowfall tomorrow. Good luck tomorrow everyone!

Between 3and 6am MO have me down for heavy snow and again at 9am, the forcast is snow from 9 tonight right up untill 9pm tomorrow! Can't wait untill it gets closer long night of radar watching, just need to get my little one to the G.P before it starts and get vital supplies.. now the council dont grit sideroads we are pretty much stranded ( but I quite like that)

I'm watching all those showers just skirting past me, hopefully soon they'll hit me. Had a few flakes overnight, but nothing significant (just enough to look pretty)

Wind is picking up here too, few trees down from Friday nights storm and a couple that have developed a lean. Hope they come down completely neighbour refuses to trim them, over the years they have completely blocked the view.
-
I'm not getting excited, although it'd be nice to see a few flakes.

My garden finally seems to have less standing water for the first time in weeks! Had a walk past the river Don today, it's difficult to imagine there are rivers bursting banks allover the country. It didn't look much different to summer months level wise, infact I've seen it much higher.
-
To be fair to the council they did a good job of clearing them out after the last floods, just hope they continue to cope well.
-
Been out and about this morning, seems to be lot's of surface flooding appearing this end of Sheffield. Any dips in the road are just turning into huge pond like puddles.

I'm sorry to hear that paul, allways horrid breaking the news to kids..our cat of 17years died in Oct.. kids were heart broken (as was I) give her lots of hugs

I saw that, wondering what implications it has on our current conditions? Does it mean our stormy period will intensify.According to this satellite image they're twins… never seen this before, ever!http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2559856/London-New-York-storms-COMBINING-Meteorologists-say-two-storms-holding-hands-Atlantic.html

Wow..wasn't expecting it to get so gusty! My cheeky little kittens woke us up at about 5:30.
Any changes in air pressure seem to send them crazy..doing the wall of death round the house, who needs a barometer when you have cat's! The ground is saturated in my garden, rains not soaking simply running off to the lowest point and creating a new water feature.

I was quite concerned for the chimney stack I share with next door, infact the entire side of her roof is in a bad state. Luckily it stayed put. I went out about 7:30pm and stood in the wind..incredible feeling. When we have the roof done later in the year I'm getting the anemometer put up there, it didn't register anything over 30mph.
-
Next doors dodgy fence panels have blown away and my rain gauge has gone for a little trip. Hope it still works! Other than that everything seems o.k. can't see roof yet to check tiles.. I really enjoyed yesterday's storm..weather on sky news all day..it was bliss. Obviously those who sustained damage won't feelthe same
