  1. I'm in work in pencoed been pouring with rain all night and this am, dry now. Apparently it's ok as far as Ogmore vale but quite bad in Nantymoel. Very bad up can by bwlch nothing moving vehicle wise. I'm to leave work at 1. Any ideas if this is going to start again? Turn to rain, back to show? I just need to leave work ha ha but don't fancy being stuck in car either.

  2. The snow in Italy has been terrible, just watching the news, avalanche hit a hotel possibly 30 people missing. I don't want anything like that. We have had snow up here twice being on mountain but low areas had nothing. like that most years. I think last time low areas had snow was 4 yes yesterday.and cannot recall snow lying for yrs and yrs in low lying areas around here.

This island doesn't seem to get cold snowy winters any longer, or they very few and far between. That's how when we do get cold spells we cannot cope, and to be honest thats why I don't want a event like we had in 70,s and 80,s. We be stuck for weeks ha ha.

Still a good few weeks left mind.but nights are getting lighter.

Again I don't understand this comment if you look at climate averages maps of Uk regarding snowfall you will find that Wales does really well. Setups like these i.e Nwstly with convection off the irish sea with unstable airflow and precipitation pepping up just about anywhere delivers the best snowfalls in Wales....the MAd thread would have you believe the easterly is the holy grail...for south easterners and people in eastern uk yes but us in Wales not so much...easterlies are generally dry here! Chin up its going to be great and I'm certainly looking forward to tomorrow evening in particular!!

I disagree to be honest, where I live gets snow but only a 2 mins drive down they get sleet rain. Other than when the cold is in for a good few days then it clashes with weather coming across from Ireland does low areas get what I call snow.yes they may get flakes but that's not what they want. Last night for instance down Bridgend very wet snow/ sleet no sticking at all. Drove up the valleys and everywhere was ok until Nantymoel.even then. Only a little come up big hill and had to park car up as snow and ice.

Majority of south Wales doesn't do well in this set up for lying snow. Our big snows of years gone by have been cold air clashing with mild and dumping on Wales for hours. Sometimes you get bigger showers that hang about but even then it's high areas that get it. I myself find the snow a pain unless it blocks my car as got to try and drive to work.

  4. Just came back from rug y with my son and had a shock. Snow and sleet Bridgend.daughter rang to say it's snowing bad. Got to Nantymoel no problem main roads fine turned I to the cwm and that was that. Abandoned car as would not go any further. Snow and sheet ice. Worse than last night. Not looking forward to trying to move car at 5.30 am.

  5. Looks like the easterly may be off the cards now from latest models, noticed lots moaning on other forums, some saying if it does what it says then winters over ha ha. In my eyes winter here is normally Jan and first week of Feb. Can go outside this time scale mind. But they not liking the future weather right now. Wind and rain from West. With some frost and fog.

  6. Well been chilly today but nice in direct sunlight, been a horrible winter with lots of rain and no real dry cold snap and hardly any snow for the kids,me I just want summer now so please weather gods let us have a very long hot sunny summer. All the talk of snow last Friday etc etc was wrong yet again. I know some areas had tiny amount, but at least in summer if we do get told nice hot sunny day we get it ha ha,may only be once but at least their correct ha ha. Sun and beer lvly.

BREAKING NEWS - Southern Ireland just had winds approaching 90mph - heading this way - GULP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cc_confused:

I hate the wind causes to much damage and being up on this mountain it gets hit hard by wind.

  8. Yes sounds like a normal very wet and possibly windy end of winter,I read in model thread some of the most experienced posters going for possible cold mid Feb,we down south normally don't get it to bad by mid Feb.nights getting lighter and temps rise.roll on summer, wait I forgot we don't get summers very often. Never mind plenty of drinking water ha ha. Well at least we had snow for 2 days.

  9. Hi all my first post for a long time been very busy and fed up with wind and rain, we did have some snow on high ground the other day but what is happening to our winters guys? What's the reason for such mild? Yes its a little colder last few days with a tiny amount of snow for some of us on high ground. But looks like we may very well see winter pass again  without winter really happening.nights are getting much lighter now and looks like by weds or Thursday we going back to mild weather. That could be the end as within 2 weeks the days be much longer. I know we have in past had snow events in Feb and even march but normally it's during Jan we get the real cold winter weather.

Just be nice to have cold sunny days for a few weeks, then a scorching summer, sorry all i just slapped  myself to wake up I forgot we only get this horrible rain.

Be nice to know why our winters have become so mild and wet. Is it globel change or any other reason?

  10. Well hi all first day of winter and temps more like spring, don't feel like spring mind.last night driving was terrible wind and massive amount of water on the roads.I hope we get some nice clear cold weather soon or be no rugby until April ha ha.I see most sites except for express news paper going for wet and fairly mild for dec,for most of the UK.

  11. no snow for us this winter. looks like we need to move further north if you want snow guys, me im moving to spain for sun, or if I can afford maybe Canada as they have nice summer and crisp cold snowy winters ha ha.

  12. well after the crazy ice on roads this am, today turned into a fab day, sun but chilly. looks like from watching the weather reports on tv earlier this week going to be sunny but chilly, that do me nice at least we can do a few jobs outside this week, rain and wind spoil everything. as for snow not looking good until a least Friday unless things change, showed up to thurs and looks like a nice week, I want spring and summer or maybe miss spring and straight into 7 months of summer.

  13. there is a covering in Nantymoel and wife text me in work to ask whats it like down there in pencoed and nothing, sleet cold rain. but looks like from pics I seen cwm where I live is has a tidy covering and people saying on facebook it was quite heavy stuff, but I am in work so didn't see it ha ha.

  14. I didn't think south wales was due to get any snow over night, well im sure I saw that on forcast and not much in the way of snow for next day or two either, north and mid wales looked like they was going to get some snow and sounds like they did so to be fair from what  saw on tv they seem to have got it right.
