  1. Currently 14°C, a couple of hefty showers in the last hour but now the sun has put in a brief appearance. Not going to be for long though if the radar is correct.....
  2. Yes, I was surprised at that too. Just shy of the magic 30°C here, max was 29.3°C and a few minutes ago it was 23.8°C. As others have said, thank goodness for the breeze, made it just about bearable.
  3. More heavy showers now, perfectly timed for the picnic on the village recreation ground! Fortunately, there is the village hall close by.
  4. That was a real humdinger of a storm! 29.6mm in the gauge and best part of two hours of continuous thunder and lightning. Overhead, with blinding flashes and instant rumbles, for 15 minutes. Mush as I love storms, that 15 minutes was a bit scary. Seems to have taken out a telephone junction box (cover blown off all all burnt), in Sherborne, phone lines down and internet too. Other damage being reported on social media too.
  5. Nothing here today either, 24 hours to 09.00GMT produced 0.9mm, which all fell yesterday afternoon. The thunderstorm warning's on for tomorrow here. We'll see.
  6. It certainly did head our way! Continuous lightning and thunder from 21.40 GMT for best part of an hour but very little rain. Checking the radar this morning the cells mostly went to the east of us in the first batch and then to the west in the second. Rainfall total to a few minutes ago, a paltry 3.7mm. Definitely the best light show for several years.
  7. Just checked the West Bay webcam and there's definitely electrical activity out to sea....and the Lyme Regis one too.
  8. 12mm to 09.00GMT, nothing since but a couple of small cells might be heading this way. If there was electrical activity overnight I didn't hear it!
  9. Just about to tank it down here. The garden will be happy and I'm pleased that I cut the grass this afternoon!
  10. Anyone else having a problem with V7 radar on Chrome this afternoon? It's gone blank all over UK and time shows 00.00. Working OK on Firefox. Refreshed and restarted to no avail.
  11. Saw the sun very briefly as it rose this morning, cloudy until later morning and then sunny until it set. Makes one feel so much better to see the sun.
  12. Only mist here this morning so it was another day of wall to wall sunshine. Definitely warmer this afternoon, but didn't get to double figures.
  13. Same start here, Dorsetbred. Rain came across about half nine, produced one faint rainbow and then the sky went grey. Promised brighter afternoon has not materialised.
  14. One of the many cumulus this afternoon that were forever changing shape and reflections in a bit of flooded field after 25mm rain in the last 48 hours.
  15. Squall line just gone through here too, torrential rain for about ten minutes, now easing off and a hint of brightness..
  16. I just looked at the West Bay and Lyme web cams and was surprised at how calm the sea was in spite of the obvious shaking of the cameras! 0.6mm in the gauge at 09.00, must have been the limited showers we had yesterday as the grass was virtually dry this morning. A little light mizzly rain earlier, but definitely none of the white stuff here. Seems that the rail line from Exeter through to Salisbury is closed due to a number of trees and branches on the line at various locations.
  17. First air frost of the season with a -1.2°C overnight min. Beautifully sunny with blue skies for about an hour, then it went downhill fast. I went down to the gardens at Abbotsbury and until about half ten it was sunny, then there too it clouded over. Photo is taken from above Portesham looking out to sea around half eleven. Very glad I went early!
  18. Surprised to find 4.3mm in the gauge this morning, followed by intermittent drizzle and light rain all morning. Not the best day to have the gardener here removing soil and plants to put down a membrane for shingle on one bed! Fortunately, he clears up well.
