  1. Snow falling in Inverness, some lovely looking showers about to start pushing down the Moray Firth
  2. Moray Firth streamer towards midnight perhaps Pete? We're in a good position currently, the winds are coming straight from Lochaber and keep things very cold, this is forecast to continue even as the precipitation moves in slowly. If we're lucky (now this is all precipitation depending, but it's a strong possibility currently), we could see tempratures sitting well below zero, with snow moving heavy precipitation!
  3. This is where the deep cold is at the moment, around Spean Bridge / Tulloch Bridge in Lochaber. Must be looking very Hogwarts festive like at the moment
  4. Those tempratures around Lochaber are plummeting!! -15'C at Tulloch Bridge at 4 O'Clock?! Never seen anything like that!
  5. Excellent Gaelic for a Sassenach Pete, that's for sure He was asking where his snow was, I answered that it was all up in the Highlands ('on the Highlands' in casual Gaelic, weather especially in Gaelic has lots of variations in the language across regions) Ceart gu leor = of course or right enough (fitting for an Invernessian, eh?) Don't know what huirst means? Did you mean thuirt which is pronounced hoorsht? Excellent Gaelic though, keep it up mate
  6. You have sleet? Conditions are really settling here and temperature is falling quickly, only a very slight that took place? It was because slightly less cold air pushed west in the late afternoon, which is quickly being reversed as temperatures fall away across the Highlands as conditions settle.
  7. No worries Pete, sunset is an hour away, temperatures will fall away nice and quickly and the sleet with give the added bonus of large icicles! It's a positive thing in my opinion
  8. That's Scottish (a celtic Gaelic language), Scots is a Germanic language (like Robert Burns) which is more similar to English. See Pete's post for a translation
  9. Tha sin ceart! Tha e uabhassoch fuar an-diugh! Don't think they'd understand that at all
  10. Pete, what a day! Deep heavy snow, icicles with snow settling on them, snow against the walls! Today wasn't supposed to be much of an event! What interests me is tonight, could see some snow showers lingering around Inverness! This could be our heaviest fall since 2006!
  11. Heavy snow in Inverness again, really beginning to pile up. Forecast looking very good, if we're lucky we could have it building up for the next few days. Big if, but here's hoping!
  12. Covering of snow now in the Highland capital, temp -4'C with -5'C dewpoint and snowing again!
  13. Aye Pete, -5'C with a dewpoint of -6'C in the wee gentle snow shower we just had. Certainly any of the snow that is on its way across Siorrachd Rois will be sticking around <_<
  14. You know it - guess what they have just done? The main action for Inverness shouldn't start for another half hour or so judging by the models, radars etc. The coldest upper air temperatures don't dig in until then either.
  15. Temperatures in Inverness are now 1'C with 0'C dewpoint, so it's all good for the upcoming snow
  16. Did any Invernessians see the size of those flakes? It was like it was snowing snowballs!
  17. Currently -6'C in Glasgow with a fog developing.
  18. This constantly happens, I mind once we didn't get a warning for 7" of snow, it's ridiculous. And yes, they always say 'rain, sleet or snow' nowadays just so that they are 100% correct, they don't seem to like to stick their neck out.
  19. It will be Inbhir Nis' turn soon I'm home just in time for it too....conveniently of course.
  20. Still, it's very unwise. The majority of the Highland population will be going about their business expecting some 'wintry showers' this weekend - it's just a bit dangerous.
