  1. I think there could be one or two surprises in terms of max temps on the day itself, still a lot to be ironed out. Also I've been woken from my summer hibernation 4 months early, still only half way through my metamorphosis!
  2. Very heavy hail gave way to heavy snow here and we have a good covering. It was really heavy at one point with very large puffy flakes floating around.
  3. Certainly from the latest GFS both Highland and the NE seem to be in the firing line now but the Met Office don't seem quite so keen.
  4. GFS 18hz takes the low even further north now, so unless the Met Office are seeing something we're not (probable) then it's going to be pretty much a Scotland-wide event.
  5. So the GFS 12hz has taken the storm a bit further north, putting Highland and the rest of the north in the firing line for heavy snow now. Consider my toys now firmly in the pram.
  6. I'm wondering if a separate snow (as opposed to snow and wind) warning will be issued by the Met Office for northern Scotland when they get an idea of the storm's north extent? There's no way the southern Highlands won't be covered by a warning.
  7. Swear to God that storm better track north and deliver snow here for Friday. This has been the most boring winter immagineable.
  8. I'm guessing the 63 to 92mph winds currently being recorded at Inverbervie are an error?
  9. That's quite a nasty little storm that's appeared out of nowhere on the GFS 18hz for Sunday night Gusts of up to 90mph
  10. Bliadhna mhath ur dhuibh uile! Interesting discussions taking place on the model thread. Running out of time for snow by entering the snowiest two months of the year...what now? Slainte!
  11. There are many members from Scotland on this forum and the models tentatively support the possibility of sustained cold from Christmas Eve to Hogmanay.
  12. With snow on the horizon, I suppose the time has come for me to emerge from my annual summer hibernation. Let's hope for plenty of sneachd to grace us through the upcoming winter period!
  13. *Screams in Scottish* In the words of Billy Connolly: I hate all those weathermen, too, who tell you that rain is bad weather. There’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing, so get yourself a sexy raincoat and live a little!
  14. -15.2°C last night which is the coldest since 2010. -12°C currently.
  15. There are some really mad temps around at the moment, quite a few private weather stations recording below -20°C.
  16. My back garden when I do the first weeding in early spring I believe.
  17. Is it maybe from the network of private unofficial Highland Weather stations? There are quite a few of those in places not covered by the Met Office and some of them double up in spots covered by them like Kinbrace.
