  1. See we are still saying model output is rubbish/poor/substandard not because it is wrong, but because it is not giving what we want. Forecasting is about planning, you cannot change the weather. Forecast today was for it to be dry but cold in the wind here, so I wrapped up warm and took a walk to see some friends and then my family for a meal, model output/forecast was right though. No snow but still had a good day out with friends and family.
  2. I did see/hear mention of "feeling bitterly cold in the wind", rather than in general and that bit is correct for here.
  3. If things turn cool, calm, sunny and dry I will be happy, until spring finally arrives at least.
  4. Another reason I cannot wait for spring is it means it is warm enough to have the doors inside open again, for now they are mainly kept closed to keep the warmth in a couple of rooms to save waste in the rest of the house, spare room which is my art studio is hardly used this time of year as there is no heating in there. Roll on spring!
  5. Best post I have seen in ages regards to the MOD thread Snow_Fan_Man, on 29 Jan 2015 - 15:35, said:
  6. Heavy big flake snow here for the last half hour and still falling (though that should stop soon looking at the radar).
  7. And if you read the thread correctly you will see JJ1 & snowrye *ARE* talking about America and their weather not the UK.
  8. That forecast is a day old (24 January 2015 Last updated at 12:46 ) just checked MO and BBC online and both showing temps of 3-5oC now for Thurday.
  9. Middle of next week is looking wet and windy, with what looks like some colder nights/cooler days to follow after that.
  10. ^^^ Indeed, it was a nice day all told today for the time of year, spent a good few hours outside rather than in which was a bonus, whilst not mild, the edge was lacking a bit with the cold if you managed to keep to the sunshine (always going to be cooler in the shade).
  11. Since the start of the month we have gained nearly 20 mins in the morning and nigh on half an hour in the afternoon/evening of sunlight here
  12. Dull and now damp is today's theme here, nothing wintry in the mix thus far.
  13. Just checked out and it is raining (only light) here.
  14. A warm spring would be most welcome, lighter days, new growth, return of colour to the garden and countryside, not so long now.
  15. 1.2oC and radar shows something passing over, but nothing falling here. No frost as of yet either.
  16. 1.6oC and falling rapidly from 2.5oC 90 minutes ago.
  17. A cold and dry 2.5oC here, wonder what the evening/overnight period will hold for my area being on the NW edge of the region.
  18. I leave every day at this time of year in the dark to get to the office between 06:00 and 07:00, looking out the window over the yard it is getting noticable lighter now.
  19. Temp is holding at 1.7oC and still cloudy so that is keeping the frost at bay for now
