  1. Ullswater looks full .... concerned that Tuesday's rainfall could cause some real problems
  2. Snowing/snowed on Clough Head and Great Dodd and as low as Wolf Crags other higher summits not visible. Temp 3.3c at my site. Off out to play
  3. Large earthquake off Vanuatu. 7.0 and just 10km deep a tsunami warning has been issued
  4. Did you not see the sun on Monday? It was lovely and sunny here in the lake district.
  5. Just driven back from Sheffield after spending Christmas with my Son and his family and lovely to be escorted along the A66 from Bowes to home with frequent snowy scenes and a nice covering in the lakes above 300m to welcome me home. Bliss.
  6. Dry overnight. High fells shrouded by fine mist. Overnight low of 6.7c. Pressure rising. Dark heavy clouds.
  7. It is really awe-inspiring the changes that our massive star can make to our very tiny tiny planet.
  8. My temp went down to -8.2c yesterday evening at 8pm. Cloud cover then raised the temp to -1.4c just after midnight this morning. Temp has then fallen steadily to -7.4c currently. My weather station forecast is suggesting a warm up on Sunday and Monday (MaxT 9c) and then cooling down again on Tuesday (MaxT 5c). -7.5c @08:19 -7.6c @08:30 -7.7c @08:45
  9. Not that I know of. The fell assessors go to summit of Helvellyn most days.
  10. Yes was up on fells over Glenridding and the cold is well and truly in even in the sunshine. Cloud cover has now raised by temp to -2.6c
  11. -8c here, was going to watch the Geminids meteor shower but far to cold to be out

  13. Where does everyone keep their outdoor temp monitors. I keep mine under the eaves in permanent shade but temps always bump up when sun comes round. Consequently I cannot record ice days
  14. Yep cloud cover up here in the northern lakes has forced temperatures up to the giddy heights of -3.8c
  15. Heavy snow forecast for my area between 1am and 2am and then light snow after that as per Met Office
  16. No snow up here close to Blencathra. Temp was -4.7c at 9pm and now at midnight temp has risen to -1.2c
  17. Overnight low of -6.9c. Summit retains snow cover. Temp dropping quickly here 0.9c currently.
  18. The trend was falling but in fact did not fall any any further. Currently -5.4c and cloudless sunny skies. Blencathra summit snow covered. Derwentwater looks to have fog hanging over it.
  19. An overnight low of minus 4.8c in the frozen northern lake district. Temp already below freezing. The summit of Blencathra retains it's snow cover.
