  1. Just been up The Struggle and down Kirkstone Pass towards Glenridding. Snow line was at 1300'. Temp approx 1.5c and sunny. Anybody know when and if Kirkstone Pass Inn re re-opening?.
  2. Overnight low of -0.3c. All the surrounding fells have a slight covering of snow. Valley level clear. As my old Gran used to say "sky looks full of snow".
  3. Temperature stayed above freezing until 6am and has remained there, currently -0.8c reaching a low of -2.0c at 08:43. Almost cloudless sunny blue skies with a breeze from the north east. Local summits frozen with a slight snow covering.
  4. Overnight low of -2.8c. Frost noticeable on rooftops not so much on ground. Overcast current temp 1.1c. High ground frozen but not much snow showing yet.
  5. Temperature back above freezing as cloud and showers approach from the north east
  6. Currently -5.1c which is also minimum temperature for the day. Thick frost. Cloudless blue skies. Beautiful.
  7. Lots of rain over the last 24 hours and becks and rivers now roaring. Summit of Blencathra absolutely plastered in snow and even a dusting on the lowly Souther Fell. Sharp Edge will be positively alpine today. High mountains in the distance all showing significant coverings. Cloud starting to break up and blue sky coming into view.
  8. Caught up in the carnage in and around Ambleside this afternoon, Fortunately I have a 4*4. Although wasn't much use when road blocked by other vehicles. A lot of very poor driving. I escaped up and over Dunmail Raise. Thank goodness such a wide road able to pass long queue snaking up. Why attempt something that vehicle is clearly incapable of completing. Other side of Dunmail alongside Thirlmere virtually nothing. Only a dusting at my place although radar shows incoming shortly
  9. Yes fingers crossed for tomorrow, nice having Great Dodd, Clough Head, Blencathra and Souther Fell all on my doorstep
  10. Signs that a dozen flakes of snow have fallen overnight. Temperature below freezing all night. Minimum temperature of -4.8c at 09:09. Cloudless blue skies, summit plateau of Blencathra snow covered.
  11. Overnight low of -6.1c at 06:25. The temperature has been below freezing since 17:15 yesterday. Current temperature is -5.5c. Sunny intervals.
  12. Slight dusting on the summit of Blencathra. My overnight min temp -3.1c and now sunny intervals. Foggy along the old coach road.
  13. 4.0mm of rain overnight and temp fell to 2.4c at 8am after rain ceased. Temp now up to 2.7c and full cloud cover.
  14. Snow on top of Blencathra and down to the top of Scales Fell this morning
  15. Very strong winds up to gale force at times overnight and into this morning. Should start to ease from mid-day. Cold weather will start to set in, high wind chill values in the mountains.
