  1. Birghtish coudy this morning. Hopefully, there will be a few glimmers of sun for a treat. Dry and not windy, so OK really.
  2. I'm not sure how much rain we've had, quite a lot last night, but it has really eased back this morning. Temperature did make it to 3.8C a couple of hours ago, but has since fallen back a couple of notches to 3.6C. As you say MIA if this was January and the continent was very cold, we'd be knee deep in snow today.
  3. What a horrible morning! feels freezing cold at 3.1C, with a blustery wind and spitty rain. I suspect if visibility were better, I would be able to see snow on the top of Clee Hill.
  4. A brightish morning, even a glimmer or two from the sun. Rather downhill this afternooon, and it now looks like we are just heading into the rain proper. Mild at 11.8C.
  5. Had a bit of croaking the other night, but no spawn yet. We generally get tons, so plenty of time yet.
  6. A proper frost last night with a minimum of -2.8C. A bit of a yucky day here, rainy and blustery, but really mild at 11.4C.
  7. Another lovely day. Frost this morning (-1.8C), then sunny spells this morning, followed by a cloudier afternoon.
  8. A warm dry spring-like day with a max of 13.1C. Just to prove it, the frogs have started croaking in the pond!
  9. Dry day here so far with a max temp of 6.7C. Did drive through a sleety shower near Kidderminster about 3 this afternoon.
  10. Things around here seem to be about average to me - they are where you'd expect them to be for the time of year.
  11. An overnight low of -3.9C, but temp now risen and we have cold rain. Twitter reports of snow in Shropshire hills.
  12. Nothing has fallen from the sky today. It's been sunny and dry since the morning frost.
  13. Some great photos of the snow here. http://qz.com/346991/americas-cold-snap-in-epic-pictures/?utm_source=nextdraft&utm_medium=email
  14. Nice frost this morning (-1.8C), and a lovely day to follow with long sunny spells and light winds - max temp 6.9C.
  15. Church Stretton might be an idea. That's the town at the botton of the Long Mynd and in a great location if you like walking. Another contender is Bishops Castle- very picturesque, higher up, own brewery, beautiful location, definitely more 'remote'. What more could you want ...
  16. I think they do get more significantly more days with falling snow. Quite often we have sleety rain or just cold rain, but Titterstone Clee and the south Shropshire hills, both of which I can see from my house, are white.I've certainly been on the Long Mynd and Tittersone Clee when it has been snowing, but just rain in the valley.
  17. Rain cleared by 8 or so this morning. Mostly a dullish morning. A few bright spells this afternoon with some blue sky and sun, but also a couple of light showers. Skies now looking to clear and temp falling back, currently 6.1C.
  18. Saw my first 2 male black birds doing their 'cock fighting' yesterday - battle llines are being drawn.
  19. Only 10 posts since this morning. Are the other 84 people on line right now, waiting for someone to post charts and make comments, I wonder?
  20. That has been known for some time I think Knocker. It seems to be linked to the mercury mining ongoing in the Amazon basin - a lot of water is needed to extract the mercury. The contaminated water then gets washed back into the Amazon which drains into the Atlantic where it contaminates the tuna. The mercury is mostly being used for the manufacture of low energy lightbulbs. Now there's a good idea to save the planet, or maybe not?
  21. Bit of a yucky day here. Light rain this morning, and a touch brighter this afternoon, but still rainy. Maxed out at 7C and now down to 3.9C. Not as windy as I thought, in fact not windy at all really, bit of a breeze perhaps.
  22. Yep, the evening dog walk has already moved from 4 to 5pm. There was even some glimmers of light at 6pm here this evening despite all the cloud. Love it when I can walk the dog at 8 or 9 in the evening - great chases to be had in the fields around that time.
  23. Rather grey again today, but a few glimmers of brightness this afternoon. A few hints of a breeze to signal the advancing low pressure system. Temp maxing out at about 4C, the same as yesterday.
  24. Do you think the potential rain on this system for Friday will be unlikey to materialise?
  25. Some great photos in this newspapaer article about the snow in Boston. Nearly 6 feet of snow in the past 3 weeks. http://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2015/02/09/boston-new-england-snow-records/23109017/
