  1. Quite cool this morning at 4.6C but with perfect blue skies and wall to wall sunshine. Great for the dog walk. It's gone a bit cloudy now, but it is still pretty bright. Better morning than anticipated as it looks like the rain is coming through much later.
  2. Heavy blustery showers all day but with with sunny spells this afternoon. Horribly windy in the squalls. Although the temp is around the 11-11.5C mark, it feels cool in the wind.
  3. Isn't there some debate as whether this area of Antartica is true Antartica since it is outside of the Antartic circle?
  4. Saw my first butterfly today! Damianslaw, I envy your snow, sounds lovely.
  5. Can I refer you to your post #3801 in this thread! After a couple hours rain this morning, we've had a decent day with some snny spells and a max temp of 11.2C. Bit too breezy for my liking, but it is easing down now.
  6. The overnight rain cleared here by 6am this morning, and since then it's been sunny spells. All in all, a very pleasant day, albeit a bit windy this afternoon. Max temp was 11C, so pretty respectable. Wind dropped out now and expecting a cool evening with some frost by the morning.
  7. Presumably the potential white Easter has disappeared or there might be more posts? Personally, I'm hoping the high will ridge towards the south and give us some decent settled weather for Easter.
  8. Missed all the showers yesterday, so ended up with a day of sunny spells. No frost overnight, rather disappointingly.
  9. Some spawn was well above the water. For some reason this year they seem to have crammed themselves into a shallow spot. Moved some spawn a short distance into deeper water to prevent frost and drying out killing it.
  10. Lots of spawn now and still some froggy action in the pond this afternoon.
  11. It doesn't matter how dark or light your skin tone, the sun can damage everyone's skin. UV waves do not discriminate between different skin tones.
  12. Saw my first bumble bee yesterday. Hovering over the grass looking for a nice vole hole for its nest perhaps. Costa Del Fal I think the 'summers' of the 1950s were pretty dire - cold, sunless and wet - worse than what we have endured recently.
  13. The sun is coming Conor, patience. I can see the clear sky coming from the west right now.
  14. A frosty start at 6, but cloud came over and spoiled the party. Fortunately it started breaking up arou d 10-11 and since then we've had lovely sunshine, a bit hazy but still blue skies. Looks like we'll max out around the 10C mark. Fingers crossed for the eclipse tomorrow. I'll be close to Birmingham at that time, will probably need to pull over as I will be driving and don't fancy having a prang.
  15. We suddenly have about 13 blobs of spawn, all from last night when the temperature was below freezing all night! Very unexpected. Maybe more tonight, here's hoping. Normal spawn count is around the 25-30 mark, so hoping for quite a bit more.
  16. Have seen some great photos of lasts nights display on Twitter. As far south as May Hill in Gloucestershire, and the long Mynd in Shropshire.
  17. Didn't see any northern lights here either despite the clear skies and very dark location. MIA in the end we went down to -2.9C, spent all night in freezing temps. Woke to a lovely frosty scene. Looks a bit more like a September morning than a March one, but hey I'm not complaining. Gorgeous.
  18. No joy here either and have been out several times. Not well enough to stay out for long and that could be part of the problem as the skies are still clear here..
  19. Completely clear skies here and I'm lucky to be in a very dark location. Cannot see anything, am I too far south?
  20. Cripes, temp here has just dipped below freezing. Rather unexpected, but nice to see nonetheless!
  21. Starting to get a tad concerned now about the lack of spawn. I hope the local frogs are OK. Must be patient, the next few days warmer weather might bring them out.
  22. Nice one jtay! You are lucky to have seen the otter. Wonder if it has a mate?
  23. Today started cloudy, but ended up with clear blue skies and sunshine. A high of 9.1C. That's more like it, could do with a few more sunny days.
  24. Bit of a non-descript type of day here. Mostly cloudy with a bit of hazy brightness this morning, but cloudier this afternooon. Maxed out at 6.9C. A short-lived band of rain has just passed over us, moving south to north. Looks rather longer lasting for you guys further east in the region.
