  1. Dry most of day, despite radar indicating otherwise. Some heavy, but short-lived downpours tonight, but no thunder.
  2. That looks quite promising, and better than the last few years.
  3. To me that looks like the central midlands is wettest on Saturday — with a generous dollop in the SE.
  4. A rather dank, damp, drizzly day and not especially warm either at a max (so far) of 17C. Disappointing springs to mind.
  5. I went out and didn't see a thing. We have very dark skies here and little light pollution. Thousands of stars very visible, including the cloudiness of the Milky Way. I could't work out why I didn't see anything. I was out about 10 minutes, had to come in because I had neckache and I was cold! Will there be anything tonight? Which direction should I look — I have a 360 view here.
  6. A rather miserable and wet 24 hours, hopefully just coming to an end in the next hour or so. The rain has just stuck to us like glue, barely moving from one hour to the next. Had close to 50m rain. Still, if the next 4 days are nice and dry, it will be a price worth paying, and the garden will have been nicely watered.
  7. Amazing storm here around 8pm. Lightening, thunder, loads of hail, terrific winds, and a temp drop of some 7c. Garden veg badly shredded, and loads of leaves blown off hedges and trees. Pretty spectacular. Lasted about 90 seconds..
  8. Around here, the foxes would be celebrating our demise.
  9. Breezy, sunny and pretty warm at around 24C here today.
  10. Christ, we might fall off when we went round the "other side"!
  11. T-stroms sliding past here — can occasionally here some distant thunder. Had a few heavy bursts of rain which started and stopped incredibly abruptly.
  12. Nice day here in the main, one or two light showers, but nothing to spoil outdoor activities.
  13. rain off and on here since 4ish. Increasingly looking like the action will be east of here.
  14. Only a couple of mm of rain so far from the "breakdown". Hoping it won't make up over the weekend.
  15. Much more comfortable today! I can actually do things without feeling hot, sweaty and rather disgusting. Should be a lot better for sleeping tonight too.
  16. Hotter here than expected — 28C. The heat is building very quickly in the mornings now — looking forward to a cool down.
  17. What a waste of a sunny day. too hot for me to be able to go outside and enjoy. Instead I'm indoors with all the doors and curtains closed trying to keep the heat out. It may as well be raining. Roll on cooler weather.
  18. I am surrounded by organically farmed land and proper flower meadows. The fields are relatively small, and the hedges are ancient as the oaks. We currently have far fewer butterflies than in previous years.
  19. Are these the first "puddles" at the (drifting) north pole webcams? If so, still later than usual.
  20. Not especially looking forward to the heat — just doesn't suit me at all. I find it very draining and tiring. At least when it's cold you can stick on some extra clothes, there's just nothing you can do in hot weather if it bothers you.
  21. Well the CFSv2 is predicting a dry October, but it's looking pretty wet in December (I know that's not autumn). Temperatures are average. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/CFSv2/htmls/euPrece1Mon.html
  22. Almost 10mm of rain here today — at least the garden enjoyed it.
