  1. Those saying "snowing north of the Downs", let's just say the radar is claiming that there's snow in Redhill, but the old and trusty "naked eye" can't make out any precipitation whatsoever right now!
  2. That must be some showers before the main course tomorrow... but I'll keep the curtains open to see what they do in this part of Surrey none the less!
  3. Well I tried to get a timelapse during the storm earlier over the Hampshire/Dorset borders but seems my camera ran out of battery before the rain fell. Pretty clouds though. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10152099977746837&l=670693666080099649
  4. Look at what's written and the matrix for both warnings. The amber warning has slightly lower wind gusts in the warning and is an amber warning because the likelihood is higher. The yellow warning is at the bottom of the matrix for likelihood because the wind speeds are higher. It's still a possibility so worth them putting the warning out.
  5. Ah, that'll be what's dumping a lot of rain on me right now then. No thunder right now mush, will let you know if anything makes it over the sound of the FSU - Clemson college football game I'm watching.
  6. To be fair the rain we've got isn't exactly biblical, even if it is fairly heavy.
  7. So I'm just sitting here at 2ish am, casually chatting with one of my best mates in Colorado when a bright flash lights the room. My reaction: WHAT ON EARTH? Is the power supply in Verwood that bad that the flickering is that noticeable? Mid rant, I hear a huge crack of thunder. So yeah, thunderstorm in East Dorset happened I guess?
  8. Hearing thunder here, about a rumble a minute so something on the way!
  9. Alarm set for 1am - can't realistically expect to stay up for these so gonna have to wing it a little here!
  10. I hate the fact I have to work in the morning or I'd be camping out on Holt Heath!
  11. If you look behind the lamppost in the middle of this shot, those are the clouds starting to bubble up here.
  12. Was just about to post something along these lines, some really pretty clouds bubbling up to the south west here in eastern Dorset.
  13. Here's what we've got in Verwood looking north-eastish, occasional rumble of thunder but nothing extravagent.
  14. And the skies over eastern Dorset right now aaaaaare... ...pretty boring tbh.
  15. I mean we've got clouds that say "could get a bit stormy later" but nothing that's "impending wrath of Zeus" over Verwood. Just wondered how different it is those 10 miles south.
  16. Any lightning? Wanna know if I should go to Holt Heath to try and photograph it.
  17. Can somebody post a link of this cell over Bournemouth? I'd like to know whether it's worth getting in the car with the camera because I know a good vantage point in this part of Dorset towards Bournemouth.
  18. Cross posting from the Convective Discussion thread, here's another photo from tonight's light show over Verwood.
  19. To conclude, I can safely say that we had a thunderstorm in eastern Dorset this evening. Glad the pics have been appreciated from me, I'll try and keep them coming over the next couple of days if I can, hopefully I'll have a better view than "out of the bedroom window".
  20. There should be at least one more shot before I hit the hay, looks like the best of the bunch but I'm snapping away for the moment.
  21. Argh just missed an awesome strike while putting the card back in, but here's what I mean about it staying in cloud.
  22. Tonight is literally the first time I've tried. Flashes are keeping coming, got the camera snapping away (remote shutter helps) but it's looking like it's either further away or in the clouds now.
