Those saying "snowing north of the Downs", let's just say the radar is claiming that there's snow in Redhill, but the old and trusty "naked eye" can't make out any precipitation whatsoever right now!

Well I tried to get a timelapse during the storm earlier over the Hampshire/Dorset borders but seems my camera ran out of battery before the rain fell. Pretty clouds though.

Both warnings are also still up on the Met Office Site? If within 12 minutes the warning has been downgraded to a yellow alert for our region, why is the amber still on there...is this a mix up or a case of the MET waiting and seeing as it evolves (which would make sense given the fact we are still a way away from the event)?
Look at what's written and the matrix for both warnings. The amber warning has slightly lower wind gusts in the warning and is an amber warning because the likelihood is higher. The yellow warning is at the bottom of the matrix for likelihood because the wind speeds are higher. It's still a possibility so worth them putting the warning out.

Looking good on the south coast, especially near Poole with some nice cells developing, and the main 'interest' is about to hit the far south west corner of the UK.
Ah, that'll be what's dumping a lot of rain on me right now then. No thunder right now mush, will let you know if anything makes it over the sound of the FSU - Clemson college football game I'm watching.

Nowt but drizzle here, the band of precip has a hole miles wide in it, and guess where we are? Right in the middle of the gap, with nowt.
To be fair the rain we've got isn't exactly biblical, even if it is fairly heavy.

So I'm just sitting here at 2ish am, casually chatting with one of my best mates in Colorado when a bright flash lights the room.
My reaction: WHAT ON EARTH? Is the power supply in Verwood that bad that the flickering is that noticeable?
Mid rant, I hear a huge crack of thunder.
So yeah, thunderstorm in East Dorset happened I guess?

Hearing thunder here, about a rumble a minute so something on the way!

I hate the fact I have to work in the morning or I'd be camping out on Holt Heath!

Some nice looking clouds starting to build now in Poole/Bournemouth area, some nice height toppers!
Was just about to post something along these lines, some really pretty clouds bubbling up to the south west here in eastern Dorset.

I wouldn't bother butler_son. I can see it from here. It doesn't look that exciting yet.
I mean we've got clouds that say "could get a bit stormy later" but nothing that's "impending wrath of Zeus" over Verwood. Just wondered how different it is those 10 miles south.

I am right in the centre of this cloud, and there is not much rain falling from it!
Any lightning? Wanna know if I should go to Holt Heath to try and photograph it.

Can somebody post a link of this cell over Bournemouth? I'd like to know whether it's worth getting in the car with the camera because I know a good vantage point in this part of Dorset towards Bournemouth.

There should be at least one more shot before I hit the hay, looks like the best of the bunch but I'm snapping away for the moment.

Nice!! I've never managed to get a pic of anything remotely resembling something that may or may not be a flash of lightning (and if you can't practice because there's only one storm at night every two years, it's damn nigh impossible to get a pic...)
Tonight is literally the first time I've tried. Flashes are keeping coming, got the camera snapping away (remote shutter helps) but it's looking like it's either further away or in the clouds now.
