  1. Hey guys, I'm in the NE of the USA at the moment and it has been boiling here. Got up to 94F supposedly in Boston when we were there on Tuesday, the thermometer in Burlington VT today said 93F (think that was a little unbeliveable), but the weather has been very hot. Ever since the 26th August, when we were in Long Beach NY it hasn't dropped below 90F as a daytime maximum wherever we've been, including Albany NY and here in Plattsburgh NY. So yeah, just adding a little bit from the ground here. Apparently temperature records here have been broken here in the past week, breaking heat records that have stood since the 50s.
  2. Was gonna say 8, but think I might put it up to a 9 now. Been absolutely cracking, both when in Nottingham (had a tremendous thunderstorm on the evening of 5th June), and back in Bournemouth. Only criticism is an odd one, and that some more rain would be appreciated, but not a lot! And the partly cloudy days that don't really make their minds up. But every time I see a forecast saying rain or cloud, it's normally wrong here, and it's been fantastic lately!
  3. It's Spring now people, anyone still looking for snow is just futilely clinging on to Winter, any easterlies that come are going to be grey, drab and boring and won't produce any snow. I think we should all be looking for high pressure to set up residence to bring in some well needed sunshine and warmth. Anything you'd like to add, TWS?
  4. This is a little oddity - snow's falling well and trying to settle to the east of the city, yet to the west, it's much more sleety and not settling! Anyone who cares about Nottingham want to work that out?
  5. Oooh look, it's suddenly turned more snowy in nature! Though don't tell C_S, or she'll have an aneurysm...
  6. Gawd, it's horrid out there. Sleety predominantly, the occasional burst of snow coming down in heavy pulses or gusts, bitter! Why did I choose to come to uni in Nottingham? Still, playing "dodge the snowflake" while walking back was, er, not that fun.
  7. And while you Northants lot are having all the fun, it's grey grey grey here in Nottingham. But then again, what did you expect? This is the city with absolutely no weather! I hope you're sending it northwards... Btw - love the avatar!
  8. I reminded Dartmoor_Matt in Banter earlier that sheep husbandry was Devon's remit!
  9. I would, seeing I'm from Dorset but currently in the Midlands! Having a look at the 06Z NAE, I don't think anyone's going to be done any favours with the low that far south for a snow event tomorrow, I'd say it would most likely be rain over Southern Counties. Of course, it could snow just to spite me...
  10. May? You kidding on, right? Happens that April last year was pretty warm, plenty warm enough - I was down at Sandbanks on the 1st of April last year, it'd been warm for a couple of days before as well if memory serves! That'll do me for real heat, about 20. For heatwaves and that, I'll happily wait for the inevitable in June we often seem to get in Dorset. Oddly, I think I'm used to it. I walked out of the house yesterday thinking "ooh, this is mild" - of course, it spent the evening snowing. In winters gone by, I would have found it bonechilling. I think the lack of light has been affecting me more than lack of heat. If it must... The cold can either give me one epic snow event or go away!
  11. Which deity did we offend? It's snowing in Nottingham...
  12. As I went home for the weekend, I thought I'd take some pictures of Bournemouth when I popped down to remind me of the beach that I'm missing while I'm up in Nottingham. So, here goes... For the whole kit and kaboodle on Facebook, click here.
  13. What's all this white stuff? Just looked out the window this morning (in Nottingham) to be greeted by a rather substantial snow flurry! It's left some on the ground as well, but it was pretty to look at, nice big flakes!
  14. Which is why April was specified in my post! Either way, most of April - June (late June was a little soggy if memory serves) was pretty decent that year, I don't remember many cricket matches being cancelled at all, certainly not as many as the last 2 years have. Surely no-one can begrudge me my desire for a warm, dry summer in pursuit of the sport I love (though occasional showers, especially thundery ones, to keep the fields and pitches nice). Of course, some rainfall would be nice for the cider apple crops, but preferably when I'm not in the country!
  15. April 2007 = perfect. I can't actually remember a drop of rain falling in Dorset during that, great start to the cricket season with a serious lack of matches cancelled! March 2005 (I think) was pretty good - remember a trip to London where the temp hit 20 or thereabouts.
  16. I've actually noticed the days start to lengthen a bit and started to feel so much happier! I remember last year when it got nice, warm and sunny in March and felt like it was the light at the end of the tunnel, like waking up from a long sleep. I've never really noticed winter have that effect on me (and yes, I do like cold and snow), but the lack of sunlight in Nottingham really does my nut. Still, can I just hibernate through February? I want to wake up with days that are at least 11 hours in length...
  17. Dorset Apple Cake and Dorset Cider on a Dorset beach would be ideal! Though as Dorset cider is hard to come by (lush if you find it, look out for Cider by Rosie), I guess that Devon Cider may begrudgingly do... Beach? Devon? HAHAHAHA! Don't make me laugh! Devon's pitiful excuses for beaches can't hold a candle to the ones in beautiful Dorsetshire!
  18. The rain this morning was absolutely freezing. Just what you want in the half light of about 8:30am, with a 9am exam. Cold cold cold.
  19. For some reason, I have Frank Sinatra in my head: And now, the end is near, And so I face the final curtain...
  20. Eh? It's not got much lighter in NG7! :winky: Still coming down, we've got a dusting on pavements and roads, but I stress, it's only a dusting! :winky:
  21. This snowfall looks even more impressive when you're lamp post watching!
  22. Oooh, the flakes are getting bigger in Nottingham! And the snowfall's slightly heavier. And it's settling on the grass. Oooh, how exciting!
